I had a battery replaced a couple of years ago at the jewelry store in Southern Trace to the right of Publix, it's was $10. Before that, I had used the jewelry store on 441 in the shopping center across from Walmart in Summerfield and they were also $10. Another time I used that Walmart and I believe they charged $8. Now I just wear my Fitbit and because it's rechargeable I don't worry about batteries, and besides the time it has heart rate and bunch of information. I think if I was to buy another watch, it would be solar.

Years ago I switched to Pulsar solar powered watches,
they do not need to be opened for battery replacement,
and they last for years.
They are very accurate and are not really expensive.

Why are you wearing a watch in the first place? The first thing I got rid of when we moved to The Villages was my watch. If I need to know the time I will check my phone. Relax, slow down, and don’t worry about time. Does anyone really care what time it is?

I think you are assuming a person is in a hurry because they
wear a watch. If I feel a need to check the time, I check my watch!
You prefer to check your phone, that’s great!
I’ve noticed a lot of people are slaves to their phones, but I wouldn’t assume all are!

I wear an Apple Watch that tracks my heart beat, steps, weather, email, text messages, receives and makes phone calls and calls 911 should it be necessary. I haven’t worn a watch except on a cruise for fifteen years, but got this for safety. This beats the piece of plastic around the neck. Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up. LOL. I have the Nike Sports model and love it. Also can use it in the shower and pool. What’s not to love about that?

People in this area are realizing that many of the retiring northerners are moving here with money and are used to paying "up north" prices.....they are catching on and capitalizing on it. I had an automobile repair ( CV joint, breaks) done several years ago buy a local two man shop and after paying the bill I thought they forgot to charge labor so I questioned it. The price he quoted for the parts included labor...very, very, reasonable but like I said eventually they will catch on and start charging northern prices....no I won't give up the name of the garage....;)

I once went in Arden's to inquire about the possiblity of putting something on my rings to make them easier/harder to take on and off. My fingers swell and are affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis. I also asked how much. The clerk looked at me (Judging much??) and responded, "You can't afford it and turned away to wait on another person!" I was insulted so will never go back. Gold In Art was able to do a "fix" for me at an affordable price PLUS they will replace watch batteries FREE!! They have my business! BTW...Gold In Art will be moving in August to a building they purchased on East 466 almost to the 441/27 intersection...the former furniture store on the south-side of the road.

their diamond quality is not all that...

the 4 C's are lacking in most of there jewelry selections.

But, I used to enjoy shopping in there consignment jewelry store that was around the corner. They had such a great selection of vintage pieces. So Sad when Ardens shut that store down.

I don't carry a cell phone. That is the first thing I got rid of when I retired.
Each to his own. :highfive:

Arden's charges "$20 to $25 depending on the type of watch" to change a watch battery. That is what I was just told when I called.

Brownwood Jewelers charges $8.50 to change a watch battery and it doesn't matter what type of watch it is.

Someone up thread said there is a place that changes watch batteries for FREE. How can that be? I wonder about those batteries they give you. Hmmmm.
