We always recommend Tim Miller. He is one of the very few that install these CORRECTLY. There are a few Gutter companies who install these attic stairs INCORRECTLY. Both the two main manufacturers, Louisville and Warner BOTH say to install these using ONLY either ten 3" Lag screws or ten 16D nails. The label clearly says this in both english and spanish. They even come with the lag screws!!

Using drywall screws, gutter screws, etc., is dangerous and will void the warranty.

Also, on the subject, please make sure you install these going the same direction as the roof pitch when possible. Climbing up these stairs and hitting your head on the roofing nails that stick out of the roof sheathing is not pleasant.

I am not sure Tim does STAIRS, I know he does the pull down LADDERS. There is a company that advertises in the Daily Sun that does the STAIRS. It is my understanding these are much more expensive than the ladder, and will need a larger hole in the ceiling, as well as new framing, so make sure whoever does these work is insured and licensed.

If you are not going to store stuff in the attic, what is the point of installing a ladder or stairs? The summer temperatures in the attic are so high, that it is really not a good place to store anything of value, and it can also be a fire hazard. Either throw it away or find somewhere else to store it, like garage shelving. Just my opinion.

Ladders + More | Louisville Ladder - 1 can never go wrong w/increased weight limits - easily found in both apron & vest stores,,, iirc, i had to slice 4x8 plywood sheets in 1/2 so they'd fit up thru ceiling opening when flooring over garage,,, leaving a hard hat close by in the attic's a good idea too,,, nail bites can be uncomfortable at times

Not true, I have many shelves and store everything in out attic area;Christmas decorations, yard tool, motorhome items;large area;no problem for 10 yrs;guess it's properly vented...

Majic Stairs is the only safe option for our age group. Wish I was told. Had regular attic ladder installed. Fell off 2 months later crushed my heel. Took it out and installed Majic stairs and Versilift and use attic safely now.
