Home Depot will measure and install Cooleroo blinds and it really cuts down on the heat and glare.

Happinow suggested it and we are so glad we took her suggestion.

We have the same problem as you. Our lanai faces south and the sun this time of the year is a killer.

Some background: My girlfriend Carol (since 3rd grade) who lives in Sanibel had her entire house done by Guy Murray. I was very impressed with his products and choices. After we closed on our house I had Guy do our blinds and shutters and for the second time, am impressed and also happy. He is now going to have a shade made for us to subdue the sun and ultra-violet rays. I wouldn't use anyone else. He is a nice guy, reliable and honest. I recommend him wholeheartedly. Even if you get a quote from Home Depot, I think you will be happy getting a second quote from Guy, before you make a decision. Here's his info:

Checked the price on Cooleroos at Lowe's & realized it was going to be $600 - $700 for two windows & a door. Rec'd a postcard in the mail from Shutters, Blinds & Designs In Umatilla & used them. Lots of fabric choices, good service, & cheaper than what Cooleroos would have been. PH: 352-771-2093 (1-800-208-0149)....Stuart www.getsbd.com

Do not, I repeat do not use Shutters and Blinds that has an ad daily in our paper. You will not be happy. Poor quality and service. Wish I knew this before I used them, but you can't cry over spilt milk, but you sure can keep someone else's glass upright!

We had the whole back done for just at 1000 and they were custom measured and made for us, but now that I think of it, they were having a percentage off that month. You might ask them when that will happen again.

We had SunShades install a shade that rolls up on the outside of our lanai. Has an electric motor and a wireless remote and has worked flawlessly for about 18 months. They had a booth at Markets at Marion or call Mike @ 352-205-8858.

Our lanai faces west and needed sun and privacy feature. Using Mr and Mrs Blindmaster. 352-245-0341 Give him a call to come out and measure. We are happy!

No problems for us at this point. Have Cooleroos for over a year now, and still good. They have an installer that comes to your home to measure and order. All we did was to pick out the color of the shades. I picked them up myself to save on a fee by the installer. Our lanai was just about unusable in the mid to late PM because of the sun & heat, but with the blinds down and ceiling fans moving, wonderful!!
The only other issue is howto keep the blinds from blowing around when it is breezy outside. Ask your installer what he recommends.

BLINDS PLUS SHUTTERS.... Just had them installed on our lanai (southern exposure). Also gives privacy to the lanai area. Very happy with the product and service. We've used them for other work also and continue to be extremely satisfied. Call Carl or Neil for a prompt response!

I have a terrific blind (and shade) man and I've given out his name, etc., before. We have the same problem. This time of the year with the sun so low, if you face westerly, you need to wear sun glasses inside!

Guy Murray has his own business and we were (and are) very happy with the products he handles. Guy did our entire house with blinds and shutters and everything is perfect. We also are going to get a solar shade on our lanai and it sounds like something you need, also. Here's his information:

I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest RK Products, Inc. Local company owned by a Villager. 352-430-4430. I have their product and love them!
