Default Shelves in Garage

Does anyone know of someone who can build shelves to go across the upper part of the garage maybe out of lumber? I want something real sturdy to hold paint cans, misc garage stuff want the stuff up off the floor. Don't want to use something flimsy that will sag down. Any references would be helpful.

Google overhead garage storage and you will see a number of products available either as a DIY or buy to have installed.

Just remember there is a weight limit on what can be hung from the trusses or they to will start to sag. The interior walls off the garage are 2x4 wood studs. I attached wire shelving to all my interior garage walls for storage. You can put a brace down to each stud which will give support every 24". Just a suggestion.

Skip is right. Sweetie put up wire shelving in ours and it allowed me to bring most of our Christmas stuff, plus a lot of his car stuff, and extra coolers, and yard stuff and other things we need but not often.

We have a block and stucco and the garage space was on the top of our list as we, like most, were leaving a garage AND a basement.

He also added extra shelving at the top of all closets. He is so handy, that guy. I am so lucky to have him be fixin' things these last fifty years.

In the garage the wire shelves also work great for hanging clothes to dry as it's so hot in the garage. As Gracie said we to added shelves to all of our closets because you never have enough room. We also purge the closets once a year and donate the unused items.Discarded kitchen cabinets also work nice in the garage. Just a thought.

We had heavy duty wire shelves put in both the garages in the houses we have lived in the Villages. They were installed by Dan Archambault, his handyman service is called At Wits End. We haved used him for various work and he is "excellent" and we highly recommend him. Phone # 352-728-6979 or cell 352-812-1023.

Cabinets mounted up high should have the weight on the studs not the trusses.

I use Jimbo construction
