Default Curbing Contractor - any recommendations?

Anybody have a curbing contractor that they would recommend .... based on quality, service, and value?

I've done a forum search and looked at TOTV sponsors but saw very few recommendations.

Ours is a failry small job, only about 70 linear feet. We've had one estimate so far but the cost was about $9/foot which seemed awfully high.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks....

We used CURB-IT out of Weirsdale. Excellent price, excellent work, quick and efficient!

Look in the phone book for it.

Thanks for all your suggestions; at a neighbor's recommendation, we enlisted kwik-kerb franchiser out of Ocala. His showed up on time for the estimate, gave us a price closer to $4/linear foot, and will install next week.

To followup.....

Kwik Kerb Concepts, Dan Pope, 352-266-0017 (he is a Marion county firefighter and this is his side business).....

came out when they said they would, did a thorough, neat, clean, professional job; came back, as promised, 2 days later to remove the remaining concrete waste and it looks great. Dan was a pleasure to deal with. As I said before, ours was a fairly small job. Some contractors won't touch it if it's less than 100 linear ft but Dan would.

Highly recommend him for curbing installation.

What exactly is a curbing contractor and what do they do? I know it has something to do with curbs but I don't know what.

Curbing contractors make custom shaped curbs around trees and flower beds. Our landscape contractor used Precision Curbing (We think that was the name.). They were excellent. Our curb was colored and they had problems with the getting the color right. But they worked with the color manufacturer until they got it right. If you want a contact number for them call Rodney Rogers at Palm Oasis 288-0476.

Talking Kwik Kerb Concepts, Dan Pope, 352-266-0017

Just to give an up-to-date endorsement of Dan and his company. . . we just finished a big job with him, through the "monsoon" rains and then scorching heat. He did a fantastic job, showed up on time everyday, cleaned up excellently, and he and his coworker were gentlemen to deal with--honest, pleasant, fair-priced, and totally reliable. We had a a drainage problem in our yard and they took the time to work out some solutions. All modifications and "redos" were at no extra charge. We are also using them for a very small job for a rental house. Large or small, Dan treats you the same way: he's grateful to have your business and collects his money only at the end of a job when you are satisfied.

A warning, another Kwik Kerb franchisee is American Standard. We initially got an estimate from Kim. Then when we decided to go with them, we called her--no response. A week later, same thing. We let the project go when we headed back North. Returning, we looked up Kwik Kerb again, thinking it was the same company and got Dan. Everything was a positive experience. I still hadn't made the connection that Kim was with a different company until my neighbor with curbing came over to ask Dan a question and Dan could tell who had done the work by seeing the kind of concrete used and certain features of design. The neighbor had some cracking problems that concerned him. We were much happier with the looks of our curbing overall but that's just personal preference.

We can't imagine that anyone would have a negative experience working with Dan Pope. We checked around for pricing and his was very good--and he uses superior concrete that costs more in the US now since China has commandeered an elephant's share of the resource for its vast building projects.
