Question CVS Windows

We are considering contracting with CVS windows to enclose our lanai.
The approximate size of our lanai is 30 x 10. We were told by the salesman that we would not need additional AC/Heat in the lanai when we use their windows. Does anyone have experience with enclosing the lanai and not adding additional AC?

Don't know how large your Lanai is .Mine is 12x30 and is enclosed I leave my sliders open and fan on my AC handles it just fine

CVS enclosed our lanai, it is not air conditioned, its barely tolerable in the hot time of the year-can't see how the a/c fan being on helps a lanai with no duct work

If we ever decide to a/c the lanai, we will get a muti-port system & do the garage, too

Sounds like your AC system is inadequate or out dated

My patio villa lanai has a acrylic glass enclosure not done by CVS. There is no way that the house A/C would cool it. In my opinion, you need a separate A/C to cool an enclosed lanai properly.
Something like this.

Our lanai is enclosed with double-pane glass and not air-conditioned and it is comfortable; perhaps 1-2 degrees warmer than the rest of the house and it is over 400 sq.ft. We leave the sliders open 24x7. The key might be the exposure. We have a northeast exposure. If you have a western exposure you may very well need a mini-split system.

The home we purchased the lanai was enclose without air. The lanai is 30x13. Opening the doors and turning on the ceiling fans did not cool the lanai. We put in a split AC/Heatt unit and we can use the room year round. I just walked on our lanai and it must be 80. The fans are on and the sliders open for the dogs to run in and out. The lanai faces South. I keep the AC at 74 in the house.

We keep the house @ 72 day/68 night--there is no way to get airflow from the house to the lanai--

OP, do not forget about insulation on the lanai ceiling area, I know for a fact ours does NOT have any and it will need to be added if we ever decide to enclose ours.

First thing a reliable contractor will do is insulate the ceiling above the lanai plus the local building code requires it
Coolaroo shades worth every penny https://www.coolaroousa.com are big help keeping out the sun along with good double pane windows tinted
My Lania faces west gets strong afternoon sun the products mentioned above work excellent

Shades probably make a big difference. I do no want shades because the lanai faces birdcage and pool. I like the view of the water.

I don't like the look of shades. I like a clean view.

Just wanted to make a comment about the contractor since I noticed his name in your post. CVS did our window install when we decided to enclose our lanai. It was a couple of years ago and our windows still leak. During Irma we had 4 buckets collecting the water. We had them back a bunch of times but they never could stop them from leaking. Let's just say we did not have the "A" team during the install. Good luck.
