We have a rather large birdcage, and all metal, we are interested in doing decorative columns. I understand that the masonry structures are quite expensive, and that there are some contractors that do these in Styrofoam which seems to be an attractive alternative. We are looking for recommendations, of anyone's experience, as well as contractors, and any potential headaches problems, or what ever.

This is an interesting concept, how will you avoid interfering with the existing screening? Would be very interested in seeing photos of the finished product. We just added a birdcage, but want to keep the open look of the aluminum columns, so I do not have any info for you on decorative columns.
Depending on what you are looking for, it just occurred to me that Lowes and Home depot have these types of columns, if you are NOT looking for stucco.
