What an UGLY word... and not pleasant thoughts associated with it! But, after 25 years of marriage, which I THOUGHT were happy, I am faced with the prospect of trying to protect myself... since I am SURE that my husband is heading down that path...

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good family law attorney in the area?

Any replies will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to The Villages. Divorce although is the norm, think twice about it and what you will be loosing. Just move out and live your own life, as so many others do here. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear this Hazel. Many of us have been thru the same thing and no matter who wants to leave first it still hurts.
I made the same decision after 42 years, not that it didn't occur to me sooner, but had everything in place before I moved here so I won't be any help when it comes to lawyers.
You are gonna have to pull up your "big girl pantyhose" and do what ya gotta do. Here's wishing you the best!

Thank you for the reply, but it appears that HE is the one making the decision, since I overheard him tell a friend that he was going to (finish) me financially... I am just attempting to protect myself from poverty, which, it appears, he has in mind for me.

Hazel, sorry I can't help you with a recommendation, but I do have some advice. Find that lawyer without delay! I've been in your shoes, and wish I had not dragged my feet in getting a lawyer involved. If he's making statements like that, you need to get someone on your side right away. Whatever you do, don't put it off.

Gotta agree with that! Never hurts to be in the game before getting called out!

Sorry to hear about your situation... Try a consult with AJ Rohe, Hwy301 in Oxford. He is extremely aggressive and the guy you want... especially if it is going to get ugly..

Peace and Love

I too am sorry. I do know that if you will be starting a new life, this is the place to do it. Best of luck to you.

Hazel, I don't know a lawyer to recommend, but I too offer moral support and best wishes.
