I'm a sharpener in the Village of Hadley. I do garden tools, straight and curved blades. I also do high end knives and serrated blades. I also do electric clipper blades used for grooming both animals and humans.

I will also pick up and deliver if needed. I can help with mower blade removal as well. My prices are comparable to those at the Marion Market and turnover is usually that day or over night.

I spend the summer in Utah so I'll be back in The Villages in mid October.

For questions can be reached at 269.998.5781.

Thanks,

Terry Johncock

Lawn mower blade sharpening

It typically costs about the same, to a little bit more, to just get new blades and replace the dull ones. Plus, sharpening the blades can change the weight distribution which causes them to wobble a bit when spinning at fast RPM’s and can damage the bearings in the spindles. If you can wait until the third week of September, when we get to our villages home, I would be happy to swap the blades out for you. Usually only takes a few minutes.

He’s right. You can replace a blade for less than $20. Takes 5-10 minutes and you dont have to take your lawn mower anywhere and pick it up.

Do you know if it's easier to replace blades on electric mowers since you don't need to worry about the gas and oil spilling?

Just make sure the battery removed or cord unplugged. Safety first.

And you can save the old blades, get them sharpen at convenience time, and have spare set. Win. Win. Just like shopping at Winn Dixie:beer3:

IMO (from pass experience) using grinder will eventually take off more metal on one side of blades and cause balance problem. I brought the cheap cone balancer to balance blades back out. After that most time I just used big file. Even then I had to balance them out occasionally.

Hi could you please send me your information. Thanks Sherry

I have the EGO mower and have replaced my blade twice. It’s just a simple bolt that holds it on and the entire process takes just a minute or two.
