It is possible there is a common junction box under the sink containing both the wall switched receptacle/outlet that the disposal plugs into and the hardwired feed for the dishwasher could come out of the same junction box but it would be wired to be a constant feed. Definitely ask a handy neighbor to take a look before you call an electrician in and have to pay for a service call.

As for the dishwasher I am GUESSING you have a failure of the electronic controls for the unit, which translates to probably replacing the dishwasher. I would call an appliance repair company (we have used Beck's) and discuss with them. Feel free to send me a PM if you would like to discuss further over the phone. |
The previous owner/ghost must be trying to send you a message!

Check the electrical connections inside the electric outlet. Sometimes electricians use the push in electrical connection on outlets, rather than the screw on connections, probably to cut corners and save time. The push on connections can have a poor electrical connection, and actually can become loose! I’ve fixed lousy electrical work before in all three of the homes I’ve owned, that supposedly were done by licensed electricians, who we’re supposedly professionals.
It’s possible that there could be two independent problems at the dishwasher and garbage disposal, but very unlikely. The problem is most likely inside the electrical outlet under your sink area. If the problem was ghost(s), they wouldn’t limit themselves to the dishwasher and garbage disposal, or just electrical things! |
If your in a newer home call warranty and let them take care of it

Definitely call Sixto Durand (electrician), of Fruitland Park. Phone 561-929-6247. He’s self-employed, brilliant, and reasonable. He does a lot of work in The Villages.
