Default GE Refrigerator Repair Question

I have a GE refrigerator GTS22JCP that came with the house circa 2007.
The freezer is starting to make a lot of noise that sounds like a noisy vibrating fan. Does anyone know how to access the fan asssembly without damageing the ductwork in the freezer compartment so that I can lube or replace the fan? I assume that there are a lot of these refrigerators around since there were so many houses built at that time. So maybe someone has already had and fixed this problem.

Thanks, Bill From Duval & Blackstone, MA

Try a Google search on the model number. There probably is a listing for the owners manual, etc.

Bill - PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a pdf of the factory service manual for your fridge. I'd post the link to the web site where I found it but it requires being a member to view/download it. Don't want to put you through all that!!

Save yourself future aggravation and get rid of it. The GE refeigerators here for the most part are pieces of crap.

If you can identify the noise coming from the fan unit (in the back of the freezer compartment) .... 'it is the fan.' GE had problems with this fan and it is a common problem here. If your temperature is staying up in both your frig and freezer, you could order a fan from Amazon etc. (I would expedite the shipping) and then install the fan. Just limit opening the door of the frig for now ... the freezer should be fine if it is a fan issue.

Thanks For the advice.
It is the fan! I finally figured out how to take it apart so I could get to the fan and I found that the shaft is wobbly so the bushings or bearings are shot.
I lubed it and reinstalled and will replace it as soon as I get a new one.
Does anyone know where I can pick one up locally or do I have to order it on line?

Thanks again, Bill

Where to pick up locally... First let me say that I have not bought from these places myself. However I saved these two recommendations from previous posts here on TOTV:
Foreman's Appliance in Belleview, 352-245-2292, will sell used parts
Appliance Direct in Fruitland Park

Good luck.
