Me, again. Please tell me that Mike Scott didn't sell out to that friggin' thief.

I wouldn’t use this company just because of their ANNOYING radio commercials……..

WE had our water heater replaced by Scott Plumbing late last year. I did check around for pricing etc. Mike Scott was reasonable, and due to our previous work done by them, had them do the job. Very pleased with the tech and $$$. Great job and very pleased.

Then earlier this year our old water softener failed and I got a new Rheem at HD and had them deliver. Called Scott for an estimate and it was OUTRAGEOUS. Shocked. I contacted Dunstin Plumbing (after a review on TOTV). Reasonable and great job. Bottom line IF Gay now owns Mike Scott, THEY would be on the BOTTOM of my list for future plumbing jobs.

Why is the Village plumber included in the list of contractors to stay away from? I researched them on this site and was unable to find any negative comments. I have had decent service from them so far. Thank you.

I have been reading about this guy, Frank Gay, for several years now. All bad reviews. I would NOT USE HIM FOR ANYTHING

I called Mike Scott Plumbing this morning, and they told me that this is NOT TRUE.

But given Frank Gay's business practices, they would tell you this wouldn't they? Not sure how to check but there has to be a way?

Possibly. But, as far as I know, Frank Gay is not using anyone else's name. They are not using Kiley and Sons name.

What? Do you want me to go over what happened to me? There were threads about it with their employees whining about how please don’t hate them. I have the invoice and everything. And conversation taped. Do you need me to go over it again?

It’s very common when building newer homes to have outlets in the floor where one works & the other is controlled by the light switch. He should have known right away.

We do have a list. It’s at Seniors vs Crimes. This needs to be reported to them. They will also follow up on it. Frank Gay has a terrible reputation in the Villages. They used to just be plumbing but they recently added electricity.

The problem is also with companies who walk the fine line between being criminals and just gouging - our list should indicate the gouges as well as NOT RECOMMENDED companies for Villagers to use - “use at your own risk” type of thing.

Once and for all...

Mike Scott Plumbing has changed their name to "Scott Plumbing", which I assume is due to the fact that it has become more of a "Family Business" and that Mike is slowly easing out of the day to day business...

Mike Scott, who founded Mike Scott Plumbing, passed away about 5 years ago. I don't know if there was another Mike Scott.

Thank you again for clarifying this. The business Frank Gay bought up was a reputable plumber and several of us made the mistake of thinking it was Mike Scott. The Scott name stays unblemished among plumbers, as far as I know. But a couple of Villages plumbing companies can buy up Cirque du Soleil for good advertisement, and still stay suspect.

I have read several negative comments about Village Plumber, mostly about their high prices. Also, they are not upfront about what they charge for a service visit. By contrast, Mike Scott Plumbing is very transparent and upfront about what they charge for certain simple projects, a service visit, and their hourly rate. That is why I prefer to use them instead of Village Plumber. When you call a plumber, they should at least be able to tell you exactly what they will charge for a plumber to visit your house and to look at a problem.

He was definitely eased out of the business then.

Well, that would certainly explain his "easing out" of the day to day operations... :o

The plot thickens.
1. Scott Plumbing is the new name that the Scott Family is using for the Company after Mike's passing. The officers in the company are family members just go to Florida Sunbiz site and search for Scott Plumbing. Scott Plumbing is really the new family business name and has no relationship to Frank Gay.

2. Frank Gay was Purchased by an Investment Group Apex Service in 2019 and now operates under the Apex Service Partners umbrella under its own name.

3. Alpine Investors has formed Apex Service Partners in a platform company. Apex Service Partners aims to grow its plan by partnering with other leading service providers in the industry to build a national presence.

Based on how Apex operated Frank Gay, you can assume that these new "partners" will operate in the same fashion as Frank Gay operated. These new partners will operate under their old name but may have acquired a new modus operandi. BEWARE who you hire!
