Default Golf Cart renters insurance

Hello all,

I am renting a home for January and February this year.
The home comes with a golf cart. The rental agreement calls for renters golf cart insurance but I can't find any company that writes it. Most companies say that the owner carries it.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Tony

I spent my career in the Insurance business in Canada. I don’t think it is any difference in the U S Whereby you cannot insure anything that you do not have an insurable interest. You cannot insure someone else’s house, car, boat, golf car etc. You have to have an interest in it to sign a contract, which an insurance policy is. I would be surprised if you can find this coverage.

That’s why we never rent with a cart. We find it safer to just knock some off the rent and let the renter get their own cart. There seems to be no sure fire way of avoiding being sued if a renter is using your cart

Harleyman has it correct. You have no insurance and all your assets are at risk.

Foremost now covers the owner of the home/cart if they are renting out the home and cart together.

I have spoke to three separate businesses that rent carts. Every one of them has said "you can get it through your homeowners or auto insurance"... I spoke with my agent who has my auto, home, boats, and liability umbrella policies and she said they have no such product to insure me while I rent a cart, and she looked around and couldn't find any business that offers it.
I have yet to hear from one customer who rents carts who says they found insurance coverage.

State Farm sells stand alone golf car insurance. I pay about $100 a year for $500K liability.

I am a homeowner that rents my golf cart with the house for an additional cost.
You can't get insurance on something you don't own.
The homeowner needs to provide it...they may incorporate the cost to you rent.
