Default Granite Counter tops???

I did search the topic here on TOTV. However, most granite posts are very dated.

We are looking to replace all the corian counter tops in the house with Granite.

Any suggestions to contractors or suppliers are welcomed. We have plenty of time to do our homework and the input from TOTV is a part of it.

Thanx in advance.

Not strictly "on topic", but we did see some very nice counter tops in Lowes made from recycled glass which we are considering instead of granite

Duncan Stone in Taveras does the best. I have had him do 3 homes for me. All jobs were done excellent. Quality and price. You can go right over here to Rolling Acres and pick your slabs and he will do the fabrication. Be happy to show you a couple of them if you want to see his work.

I had granite in my last home and I loved it. You can place a hot pot right on it with no burn. It cleans up really pretty. It increases the value of your home. It is more durable, it gives a unique look it is easy to clean and improves the look of your kitchen.

You might get away with it, but I would not recommend placing a hot pot on a granite countertop. Granite can crack with heat. Use a trivet or cutting board. Also, don't ever stand on a granite countertop to replace a light bulb. I would suggest that you look at quartz as an alternative to granite. It seems to be replacing granite as the new modern trend in countertops.

If your hearts are set on granite, go for it. I do not have any info regarding the info you requested.

However, if you’re wanting an updated look, check out quartz. We’ve had both materials and quartz wins hands down for appearance and no maintenance or sealing necessary! When they install granite, they warn you not to put hot dishes/pans on it due to fracture risk.

Quartz is in!

Another problem with granite is that the color of each slab is unique. So, if you chip it or crack it or damage any part of it, basically, you need to replace the entire kitchen.

I had granite once, and it seemed like I had water spots all the time.

Most dealers and installers offer both granite and quartz. Look on Duncan Stone website and you'll see his examples include both. Here's one from his website of quartz.

Central FL Kitchen and Bath sells many brands of quartz.
They have an Ocala address 2800 SE 62 St. But I recall they’re actually in Summerfield off 27/441.

My Townhouse Condo had granite counter tops in the kitchen. I didn't like the granite at all. I used granite cleaner and sealer and it still stained. I would never get granite again.

I bought my quartz from Home Depot and had them arrange for installation.”
