Default Install shower where there is no rough-in

Our house is on a concrete slab.

We have bathroom with a jacuzzi tub but no shower. We want to keep the jacuzzi and add a shower but there is no rough-in for a shower.

Where we want to install the shower is on the other side of a wall from an existing shower, so maybe it could be tied into that shower drain?

There is also a toilet next to where we want to place the shower, so maybe we can tie into toilet drain?

Any and all comments/suggestions are welcome... including who can do the work.

It is unlikely that you can tie the drain into an existing drain because every drain needs to have a trap. The trap for the existing shower is probably located directly under the drain opening and below the concrete floor. The trap for the toilet is built into the toilet itself. The contractor will probably need to cut a trench into the concrete floor and install a new drain pipe and trap and tie it into the existing main drain under the floor. it would involve some concrete tear out work in your bathroom. Very messy. It would be easier if you wanted to install a shower inside an existing tub. Then, you could attach a vertical pipe to the tub faucet for the new shower and the water would just drain into the tub.

Do yourself a favor and contact a professional about this job. I would start with Roberto’s or D&D Village construction.

You’ll get lots of advice on this forum, but unless they are actual experienced contractors who do this type of work, you will still be left with questions.
