We have been dealing with Tom Fross for a number of years and find him to be very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
He is available at any time that you pick up the telephone to talk to him. His staff is also very knowledgeable and courteous.
We have gone to other seminars and seen other finanacial advisors that were recommended, but none can come close to the service we get from Fross and Fross.
We highly recommend them - you will NOT be sorry. The are truly a professional group.

So, happy to have run across this thread, as we have just decided to go with them. Yes, I agree, we went to a few of these seminars and were not impressed by any others. We are dealing with Rob Foss and he has already helped guide us in one situation that would have been a disaster to us. No one in Illinois had caught it. Glad to hear from another client.

Anyone have any other inputs (or updates from those who posted before?)

PS - since recommendations for financial advisors typically is found in the Financial forum, I think this should be moved there.

Friendly, professional, knowledgable, courteous, etc. are all great. What counts are the firms fees and the anual rate of return.

If they are charging 2% of your investment and your rate of return doesn't even come close to matching the increases in the Dow or S&P 500 all those pleasanties are meaningless.

So what do they charge and what was a rate of return on investment in 2009? (The S&P500 was up 23% and Dow up almost 19% last year)

As I mention, I am grateful on what they did for me, while many people lost big money in 2008 I did very will, and in 2009 it was icing on the cake. I don't mind them making money on me just as long as my portfolio keeps going up. I don't have the time to watch it every day, too many things going on in the Villages.

We met Tom Floss at a local restaurant last night and had some interesting conversation. He may or may not be a good money manager, but he is a good salesman.

But does he manage your money well? Any updates from anyone? How do his results compare to the increase in the DOW and S&P 500? If you have been with him for a while, how well did he protect your investments in 2007 and 2008? Did he get you out in time to miss the move from a 14,000 DOW to a 6,000 DOW? Does he charge a straight 1% fee or do you also get transaction fees? Does he provide a regular withdrawal schedule so you use your investments as an income stream? Anyone left them and if so why? Does he try to sell you products or annuities?

Thanks for any input you can provide. If any questions seem a little personal and you don't want them posted, just send a PM to me.

I would appreciate answers to these questions as well, regarding any financial advisor in the area.
