I need to have the carpet cleaned
This will be the first cleaning; have any of you had someone who did a great job?

Re: I need to have the carpet cleaned
I just used Stanley Steemer and they did an OK job. But I sure don't think the teflon protection (double the cost) is worth it. Actually, I think it makes stains harder to clean, not easier.

Re: I need to have the carpet cleaned
Hi, we are trying a new, to us, company this Friday. Will post if they are good or not.
We had the carpet cleaned by Stanley and the carpet looked great after they finished and now we notice stains that are re-appearing. HB |

Re: I need to have the carpet cleaned
We bought our villa new but weren't the first owners...the first one's mortgage didn't go through so we bought it without having any choices even though we were the first ones to live there. It came with almost white carpeting throughout.
Having a toddler grandson who lives very close and having 2 other toddler grandsons visit, the carpet ended up with stains. We had it cleaned by various companies over the past couple of years....please keep reading.... Also, having carpet cleaned in my permanent home in Michigan, I came to a conclusion. Once stained...always stained!...stains eventually seep through again. So...we ripped out the carpet in our TV Villa and replaced it with laminate wood flooring in the main living area. I've never been happier! P.S. Our home in Michigan had red oak flooring in most of the living areas plus carpeted areas elsewhere and after countless cleanings of the carpeted areas, we ripped that out and had hardwood installed everywhere! |

Re: I need to have the carpet cleaned
Had carpet restretching and cleaning by Daves. Good sales pitch by owner but now black marks worse than ever especially along areas restretched. This after being told that black soled shoes are the problem..Guess what, haven't worn black soled shoes since cleaning/restretching and wear and staining is worse than ever. Can't recommend Dave's in spite of their guarantees. Will have to remove and replace carpeting soon. Not happy!!! > >

Re: I need to have the carpet cleaned
At the risk of sounding like a know it all, or worse, Martha Stewart, Run don't walk, to your nearest grocery store and buy five aerosol cans of SPOTSHOT. Get up close to the stain and spray until it's soaked. Cover with an old towel and walk on the wet spot until it's fairly well absorbed and spray again. It will be gone for good. I buy the cans of SpotShot by the sixes at Sams. I have 4500 square feet of white carpeting and it is lookin' good. Also, I agree that the extra for the commercial...Teflon?? is NOT worth it. It doesn't resist stains and makes it harder to remove them later. I call three people who clean carpet and get there best bid. I also only have them do ONLY traffic areas. I drag anything I can out, and push everything to the side or pile on other pieces of furniture and have them place plastic under anything left and have them do traffic areas.(open areas, it doesn't get dirty under the couch or table) . Saves you a bunch of money. It usually costs me about $110 for two rooms and a hall here in Cincinnati. Please let me know how much down there.

Re: I need to have the carpet cleaned
I was talked into Teflon by Stanley Steamer. I agree totally with Graciegirl. It doesn't resist stains at all; and it makes them even harder to remove.
I'm gonna load up on Spotshot for sure.
