What internet providers are provided in TV and what are their prices?

Which one or ones would you recommend?

Thanks

Has anybody had any problems with their internet service? If so, which provider do you have?

I have Comcast and have never had a problem that could not be explained. Power outage and hurricane force winds in 2004(?) and the outage was only for an hour or two.

We also have the Comcast "Bundle" plan (no contract) which incorporates three utilities....

HDTVR(Recording) with Extended Basic television Channels;

Phone line (can choose to keep your same phone number) with no extra charge for long distance calls in USA; and

Internet provider.

Very rare outages, service is good, and all for about $170/mo.

Sounds pretty steep. Much more than we currently pay in NY. Is that typical?

We have Embarq / Centurytel
Starts at $14.95 for minimum DSL and goes up to about $35 for fastest.
No outages to speak of

Triple Play is the Comcast bundle of TV, internet and phone service. It starts at $100 per month and goes up to $200 per month depending on what channels and speeds you want. Then add $16 per month for DVR and about $10 or more for taxes, fees, 911, etc. It gets expensive fast. I have TV, HD DVR and internet for about $120. My cell phone is $16 per month.

what provider or providers provide the best price for tv cable and internet? (am interested in the price for internet service that does not require a land line phone and a tv cable service, similar to comcast) It does not have to be the same provider for both the cable and internet if there is a better price for those two services.

I don't know of any service that is just internet only except one that uses satallite but that is very expensive. We use Embarq and in order to get the internet link they force you to buy an upgrade phone service. It's still fairly economical. We get Dish, telephone with unlimited long distance and a lower speed internet connection for about $80.00. I think the Dish is about $40.00 of that.

Default Internet provider

I have just signed up for internet only, through CenturyLink - formerly Embarq

Cost is $29.95 per month (at 1 meg) but I am querying my first bill as it is for $90 for six weeks!

Also, their website is a nightmare - letting me sign in sometimes but not others - and they are very slow at replying to e-mails.

I had also considered using a computer card through Verizon, but that would have cost around $50 per month (although can be used anywhere)

Default CTL- DSL Service

If you are having problems with your DSL service you should call their help line at 800-366-8201. I have had their 10MB service for a couple of years and it has been perfect. Tech support has been great. Just ask for help if it isn't working for you. Sounds like a setup problem to me. I had Comcast and found their service unreliable and expensive. Your speed is based on the internet use in the area. With CTEL you get the speed you pay for all the time.
