Default iPhone to Droid? Have you made the move to Verizon

I have the original IPhone and the battery is finally wearing down. $90 replacement for which I would probably get a refurb model or should I switch over to Verizon? We just stopped at the store and we were quite impressed. They suggested waiting until the end of Feb for 4g network with video. Also said we could connect up to 5 devices. This might come in handy as we are living in two places and possibly easing into the Villages. We could eliminate Internet access for a while with unlimited data and I could still use the IPad off the Verizon connection. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Last year I got tired of waiting for the iPhone to come to Verizon. Since I wanted to stay with Verizon, I decided to go with an Android phone instead. I got the Droid X.

Two Comments
First, while Verizon is rolling out its 4G network, the iPhone will only run on the older 3G network. I have been told that if you want 4G you have to take an Android phone.

Second - Yeah I can connect up to 5 devices on my Droid X too. But what Verizon doesn't advertise is that Verizon charges an extra $20 per month (for 2 GB of data useage) to use that feature. That's $20 extra on top of the money you pay for their mandatory data plan that all smartphones require. One reporter stated he asked at Verizon's press conference if this same charge would apply on Verizon iphones and the spokesperson stated that they didn't know.

To the original poster- If you like the iphone, why are you thinking of going over to the Droid? Verizon rolls out their CMDA iphone4 on February 3rd. you can preorder it now.

Or, the strong rumor is that the iphone5 will come out around July. you now have options.....

Ahh! Thank you, all! No, they did not mention an additional $20 for that feature. We are thinking about this because of the mobility. I have the IPhone, Ipad, 2 house computers and 1 laptop. My IPhone is nearing the end of its wonderful life (as it has the original UNlimited data plan) but the battery needs charging daily. As we transition to TV, I don't want to start and stop internet connections in three locations until we really settle in. Also, IPhone doesn't have FLASH, so there are no TV shows, and the battery cannot be changed easily. The Droid seems to have tremendous capabilities, ie movies, favorite radio stations, download the songs for free, etc. I just saw it for the first time last night and need to explore it more. He did recommend waiting until end of Feb. for the new one. Thanks, all!
