Default Irrigation system repair recommendations needed

Can anyone recommend an individual to do simple irrigation head repairs? Some heads need cleaning out and redirecting.
The main Villages installers seem very expensive.
Thanks
Alan

If you can not find someone you might be able to get some help from You Tube. Might be easier to go to a box store and get a new head if you can not clean the old. I think adjusting the direction is just turning a ring or using a screw driver to turn a slot to redirect. You can test this by turning on the system and experiment with the pop up head.

Heads are also designed to let x amount of water go through them. I had to replace a couple of mine with heads that let more water go through to cover a patch of grass.

Call Jim Baumgartner at 352-504-2317. He should be able to help you. If he is too busy, give Joe Tucker a call at 352-430-5615.

If you have a Hunter system, you can buy spare heads and other parts at ACE Hardware (not at Lowes or Home Depot). You really should learn how to replace and redirect the heads yourself. If you hire someone, there is no guarantee that the heads will not become clogged or misaligned within a few days after adjusting them.

I second the thought on YouTube. I knew nothing about replacing/adjust sprinkler heads. I had been waiting for 5 weeks for our up north sprinkler man to stop by to replace a head that was damaged, it was like pulling teeth to get him to show up. With that said I went to Home Depot and purchased a head watched You Tube and learned how to adjust and install the head. When my sprinkler man did show up he said I did a good job with the new install and adjustment. The head cost me all of $12 or somewhere in that price range, I don’t remember the exact price

We’ve tried both Jim B and his younger protege, Joe Tucker 352 430-5615. Neither one is cheap and each will do an excellent job but we prefer Joe. Jim can be patronizing and difficult. Joe is equally competent and without the attitude.

My neighbors reported a similar attitude issue with Jim. Maybe he’s just showing his age.

I use Chip Parrish (352) 516-2281 to work on my sprinkler system. Honest. Thorough. Hard working. Nice guy. Leave a message and he will get back to you.

Jim B used to be cheap, but you had to sit through his "shtick" first, which took a very long time. Plus, he came in with a preconceived notion of what was wrong and consequently never did solve the problem.

If there is a next time, we will try Chip Parrish.

I used Jim Baumgartner a few times. I found him to be nice enough initially, was competent, became expensive, very chatty, timely, but the last couple of times, irritable and moody. I decided when I recently had a leak to try someone new. I used Action Irrigation. The owner sent his son who was very polite, timely and not expensive. I will use Action Irrigation going forward.

I had a serious leak that I found on Monday, July 30th. I made some "emergency" albeit temporary repairs but a permanent fix required more digging than I was prepared to undertake the night before departing for home in Pittsburgh. Because of the recommendations in this thread, I called Chip Parrish (Action Irrigation) and I couldn't have been more pleased with the whole event outcome. Without droning on, suffice to say Chip was great at meeting his predicted estimate, which was VERY reasonable and took care of the issue expeditiously. And to top it off, he's very pleasant to deal with. Needless to say, he's now on my preferred contractor list!

Our home watch said the same thing about Jim, she thought it was a gender problem. We switched to Joe for the last 4 years.

If you want someone who will hang up on your telephone call or someone who is arrogant and, at times, nasty, then Jim B. is for you. As others have said on this post, Chris Parrish is great. Very busy, though. So, you'll have to be patient. Make an appointment and you won't be disappointed.

I cannot think of how much money my husband has saved us in our lifetime.

Jim Cunningham is a reliable person for almost any task. I cannot say enough good about him and his wife Brenda who is a retired award winning journalist.

Jim came to help us unstick our garage door the evening after Hurricane Irma and he had ALREADY worked ten hours that day. If he doesn't fix sprinklers he will tell you of a good person that does. The world need many more folks like the Cunninghames.

Chip Parrish (Action Irrigation) without a doubt. You can't go wrong.
