Smile Jamie's Landscaping - Excellent results! Excellent price!

We just had Jamie's come and complete the landscaping work that we started when we had our pool put in in 2017. We wish we had found them for the initial work!! They did a fantastic job - matched the block and stone from our first job perfectly. We had an initial concept of what we wanted but Jamie and our project manager made some suggestions based on their expertise and, WOW, their recommendations greatly improved what we had initially imagined. They were fast, detailed, and professional from start to finish. We were so impressed we hired them on to maintain the work. They beat two other Nextdoor highly recommended landscapers on price and I cannot see how we could have received better results by paying more. They also gave us a nice military discount. We highly recommend! Their number is 352-308-7412.

Did Jamie’s do drawings & revised site plan and assist you in obtaining Architectural Review Committee (ARC) approval for your project?

Our experience was great. We have also received comments from dozens of other customers of Jamie's that had a wonderful experience, including several of our neighbors. Those comments were why we chose his company.

Did you have a bad experience with Jamie's? I don't have enough money to get screwed. Please share your experience.

Jamie has done the landscaping on both of our houses. Two key things, no money upfront and when they start they stay with it until its finished. That does not happen with all the jobs I've seen done.

As to coming back if there are issues that one poster couldn't be more wrong. Jamie has warranted our palm trees for a year and we may be on the third one in the front yard. Josh came by yesterday to give us a quote on cutting the concrete for a new gutter downspout. He also made a note with the office to check back on one of our sugar palms in the back yard.

I've recommended Jamie many times and no one who went with him has every complained back to me.

I had Jamie do a job a few years ago. I asked him for a written plan and that he take it to the Arc. He resisted, saying it was proprietary info etc. I said no matter, take it to the Arc anyway which he finally did.

Buyer beware ... the work is good but the admin rather sloppy.

Jamie did a large landscaping job on our property years ago. We were only here 3 months at the time. We knew nothing about an ARC review at that time. I now feel he probably did not get any sort of permit to do the work
that be did. That's in retrospect. We now are so afraid someone is going to turn us in. Afraid we can't sell because it will come out that Jamie did not get proper authorization. we have read the stories of people having to dig up landscaping of tear down a screened enclosure. We feel trapped.

we hired Jamie's a few years back, pleasant fellow...they do excellent "hard scape" (brickwork)....he started out doing the concrete borders as a sub for another landscaper...we're pleased with the hardscape...the workers showed up early, worked all day, cleaned up at end of day and came back the next day to finish up...Jamie showed up the first day and after a brief conversation with his crew chief never returned

He did give us a list of the plants that he planned to put in in advance...and we easily found them on the internet (as not being native to FL we had little knowledge of what they looked like)

In hindsight, for the money we paid, the plants that he put in were pretty 'average'....he doesn't seem to take into consideration that the plants in the north facing beds needed to be different than the plants going into the south facing beds his area of expertise is in the hardscape, not the plants

After the fact when I'd walk around the neighborhood and looked at the other jobs he did it was pretty obvious that everybody gets the same limited variety of plants...

it's been 3 years since Jamie did the work....some of what they planted are too close to the house and need to be move, some have quadrupled in size and need to be split... we're now looking to hire a real 'plant' specialist to redo the plantings

Considering our situation, does anyone have any suggestions? Should I throw myself at the mercy of the ARC?

we used them about 6 months ago, they were great. the shrubs are guaranteed for 3 months--they are clean, handy & polite. we will be using them again in the future for masonry.

I would be upfront with the ARC and approach them ... tell them you were a newbie at the time but would now like to get it fixed.

From what you can tell, is there anything that's obviously out of whack? For example, are all the plants on your property vs easement or neighbor.?

You'll probably be ok, and may have to make a few changes. But, would be important to have the ARC approval in your files before you sell. Otherwise, you'd have to disclose to the buyer etc.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan on selling right away. If you are really concerned I would call the office and explain just what you stated here and ask them what you should do. Many contractors leave it to the homeowner to get the correct paperwork.
