Default Lamppost

The bulbs in out lamppost only seem to last a few weeks and then blow out. Have tried every kind of bulb and wattage. Have cleaned and checked all the electrical connections. Does anyone have an idea? Do you know a contractor who might be able to fix this?

You might try measuring the power to the bulbs with a volt meter. You might be running over 110 volts and this shortens the bulbs life.

Steve, I am a retired electrical engineer, I may be able to help, please save any failed bulbs, I would like to take a look at them. Also, is your lamp post a single bulb or a 3 bulb unit using candelabra type bulbs? Let me know if you want help.

Take the top off the fixture, clean it, and put a bead of silicone caulk around the nut that holds the top ornament on. They all leak either onto the bulb or onto the socket.
