I spoke with him a week or two ago and he was still in business. Call him at 347-3420 or 207-4896. He quoted $50 per hour with a 3 hour minimum.

The Villages relocation people also gave me the name of somoene who does deliveries with Southern Lifestyles who apparently has a side business of loading/unloading trucks. His name is Mike Allen (229-6705). His rate was $180 per POD or 26 foot truck.

It would appear that this is the way to go versus hiring a professional trucking company. We have had quotes from both Mayflower and Allied and they both were in the $4,500 -$4,900 range. I guess the advantage of using one company for the entire move is that if something is damaged you have one point of contact. However, even then, there is a $500 deductible.

Thank you NJBlue,
I will give them a call tomorrow did you use one of them?
as we will be leaving the northern part of Maryland on Jan 5 pulling the car behind the truck, but I hope there is no Snow or Ice going through DC area
I can make the trip in a day and a half by car but I do not know about the Truck and Car carrier? + dog+bird
Hemingway also and by the way my mothers side of the family lived in
Monmouth County Manasquan since 1690s
Thanks again and we will see you soon
Da Sgt

No, we haven't used anyone yet so I can't personally vouch for them. Good luck with your move. We are dealing with some significant legal issues to keep our sale together. If things work out we'll be following you down I95 a few weeks after you go down.

2 guys x 3 hrs = $50/hr/man at a three hr min = $300

The website you provided had it at $20/hr/man for a 2 hr min = $80 (approx)

BIG DIFF!

Have had Arthur Martin unload two U HAuls for me. One 14 foot and one 17 foot. Did a great job both times, took under two hours and these trucks were full. Was tucking stuff on the top as we were trying to close the rear door. And both times it was $150. I know I gave him $200 each time, but I think the bill was $150. It was a three hour minimum at $50 an hour for two men. He even stayed around and set up beds and tables, helped me move things from one house to the other, and overall did a great job. I would use him again if I needed someone.

We have not moved to TV yet,but we have experience with long distance move from east coast to west coast. It would have been smarter/cheaper to get rid of the furniture and buy new than what we paid for our move:shrug::bowdown::yuck::evil6:
