Movers
I've seen a thread a couple of months ago about reccommended movers. I have received some estimates from several companies. Two were reccommended by the relocation people at TV. I remember from the previous thread that some people have had a problem with United Van Lines.
Has anyone had any complaints with Atlas Van Lines, American Van Lines, United States Van Lines or White Glove Moving? All of these gave a lower extimate than United, but some seem to be almost too low. Is there such a thing? Any thoughts?

You can be the unfortunate recipient of a bad move no matter what mover you choose. Sometimes bad things happen...though most of the time not. United has been dissed on this board, but they didn't get to be the #1 mover in the U.S. by providing crappy service. Again, you only hear from the dissatisfied. Yes, there is such a thing as "too low." If you received estimates from the major movers (United, Atlas, Allied, Bekins, Mayflower) and then received much lower estimes from "XYZ" Movers, beware. It costs "XYZ" movers more to move you because they don't have the vast agency structures the major movers have...and your low-ball estimate from them can easily cost you double what you expected to pay. There are all kinds of tricks to get around "guaranteed price" estimates. Moving is expensive...I've managed moves that cost more than my last car. You get what you pay for. If you want tips and hints on what to look for and what to avoid, pm me. BTW, I am not currently affiliated with any mover. |
