I'm sure the invisible fence is great BUT

our neighbors dog will not go in the yard AT ALL now....Granted they have a
small yard and dog may be confused....Now owners carry dog over the line for his walks (The owners are in their mid-80's and the dog is larger than they should have to lift).....I'm sure these fences are not cheap, too bad!

I take our dog's shock collar off when I take our's out somewhere and back on when I return. Our's is a lab and he's definately I hefty boy for me to lift.

We also remove the collars before crossing the invisible fence line. My girls, German Shepherds are way too heavy to lift.

Has anyone installed their own invisible fence? And if you did, how difficult was it, and what was the result? Would you do it again?

I personally would'nt try it because even if you could rent a trencher designed for placing the wire, if you should hit a utility, comm lines, or irragation of any source you would be responsible for damages and repairs and your neighbors would not be happy. The invisible fence guys always have dig safe mark utilities prior to theire work and even they can make a mistake. I recommend you have a professional handle it.

There is an audible tone the dogs hear as they approach their borders. They probably hear that sound. Switching the controller off will stop the tone and might allow the dogs to cross.
