Default Need lawn service recommendation

I'm looking for a service that mows based on if the grass needs cut and not the time of year.

My current guy mows weekly during the main growing season, but as soon as November comes, he changes to every other week regardless of the temperature, even if the grass is still growing due to warm weather. Then, starting in December, he cuts only once a month until "growing" season begins in spring.

So, does anyone have a service that continues to cut weekly if the temperatures are still warm? I'm in Fenney.

I doubt it, but you would be paying twice as much for the service. You may want to try reducing the watering times for your irrigation system. I reduced mine from 20 minutes per zone to 5 minutes, and the grass still looks fine.

If temps are in the 60s, it's still growing normally. My grass was cut two weeks ago and needed it this week, but he said he won't be out 'til next week to do the regularly scheduled December mowing. Even if temps are above normal in Dec. he'll only cut once. I'm looking for someone who will continue to cut based on growth and not the calendar if the grass is still growing.

Is it true that the Villages fines you if your lawns arent meticulously maintained? Is that why you want it cut more often?

I don't think "a bit" longer is a problem, but you might. My guy, who is excellent, goes to every other week, November through March. He does, however, alter that schedule if/when needed. He also advised me that I should cut watering to less than half the summer schedule, or spots would appear in the lawn. I'm at 15 minutes, twice a week.

I'm looking for lawn care that will cut with a push mower rather than a heavy rider. Anyone out there have a service that will use a push mower, even at $5/month extra?

They all cut like the OP described. Hardly at all in the cold months when the grass is making roots not blades.

Post here.

Bernie Coluccio from B & B III Home Services. He will come out every week regardless of the weather and check to see if he needs to mow or not. If he does not need to mow he will do something… Such as edging, spraying weeds, etc. He has never missed a week with us. Best service ever. He also is a handyman.

perhaps schedule a weekly, or every other week schedule? we use deans for everything from termites to mowing, etc. , they are VERY flexible. yes, they MIGHT cost a bit more, but we've been very pleased with their services, & workers are always ready to help
