Default New Sliding Shower Doors

Looking for contractor recommendations please. I'm thinking about replacing my shower doors with frameless glass. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Sliding doors look great when they are new. Six months later, the tracks, frames, and caulking will be covered with mold and mildew, and the glass will be etched with calcium buildup. At least that has always been my experience.

Unless you are anal like me. I put a clear shower curtain liner on the inside /shower side of the doors. Keeps em spotless just change it out occasionally. New liner costs less than $5

I installed mine about 5 years ago, no issues at all - no buildup or anything. It depends on the part of the country you are in; well water or city water; filters, etc..

I agree that I have seen some nasty ones, but a simple weekly wipedown seems to keep mine like new..

So, I suppose it is a case of maintenance?

I only have a 47-1/2" inch wide shower, so I was thinking about using this horizontal sliding glass doors, only $317 at Lowes, $315 at Home Depot.

I installed these exact doors 5 years ago or so. Haven't had any issues. Just ensure the sidebars are tight into the frame and the rest kind of stays together tight as well. Since the top and bottom is 'cut to fit' just measure twice, cut once. Use plenty of clear silicon on the bottom track to keep it from moving and watertight with the lower casing of the shower.

I think you'll find these work quite well!

Weekly? Wow! No wonder my shower gets nasty.
