Go buy a franchise. It's called a business. Don't like the service? Vote with your feet

The orginal post doesn't tell how the package was being shipped as USPS has different rates like Priority mail, parcel post & several others also insured, and other extras

The only way to get around that is to go to a corporate location. Like most good convenient things that’s far away.
I wonder if that is the reason we have never gotten a regular post office in The Villages on Villages property. Is it because the Post Office would not pay rent to the Morse family for a post office?

Nah, probably not.

I bet that's it!! Because, you know, every other golf cart community has a regular post office.

A business must make a profit, pay employees, rent, utilities, postal or UPS costs, etc. Sounds like you think a 90% or less mark up is too much. Have you bought furniture lately? What do you think the markup is on that? Why did you not just go to the post office? Don't bad mouth a small business when you went to it for ease and service.

I discovered that many years ago. USPS is more economical for smaller, lighter packages. UPS is better for the larger and heavier stuff. But their best prices are available either at the post office itself, or the UPS terminal on Griffin Road just east of CR 468 in Leesburg. Any of the UPS Stores are slightly more expensive than the UPS terminal itself, but not bad. Certainly nowhere near as expensive as any of the pack and ship businesses.

On Saturday my granddaughter flew back to Orlando from Illinois. In her haste she left her computer which she must have for online classes and exams begin this week. I hurriedly took to ShopnGo just before closing and it was $315.20 to get it there by Tuesday. It was $135 to get there Thursday. She agreed to use her phone for her first exam and to send it at cheaper rate. I paid $10 for a computer packing box. Overcharged? absolutely! Worth every penny for the convenience in getting it to her to take exams? Absolutely! It most certainly was worth the cost at the price her dad pays for tuition. I could have flown it down to her cheaper and believe me I thought about it. But I am just too old for the inconvenience.

If you are suggesting that the Morse rent would be too high, we are talking about the Federal Government. They love to waste money and they have an unlimited supply of it. Thet even pay rent on buildings that have been vacant for years.

I never looked up the UPS Leesburg location, I just figured it was on the Orlando side of Leesburg and not worth a trip. I just checked it out on Griffin Rd., it's not that far past the Leesburg Walmart, which I go to quite often and is only 9 miles from my house. Thanks for the heads up. For those wanting to map it, the actual address is;

UPS Customer Svc 2610 W. Griffin Rd, Leesburg, FL 34748

Same thing happened to me at colony location. When I questioned an outlandish charge us “fixed” itself to 12 dollars lower. Ripping people off beware

The pack and ship is an independent contractor and they charge an extra fee to use there services. I know this because I’ve heard employees tell customers.
