I agree. Avoid City Furniture. We had several terrible experiences with them. Their customer service is the worst, and the quality of furniture and delivery leaves a lot to be desired.

Our Mothers Attic, church run resale shop with beautiful furnishings and homegoods from Villagers at amazing prices. They deliver and set up. They fund local charities, all who work there are volunteers. Check them out, you'll be glad you did.

Rooms to go has some great buys and decent quality. You can also Google furniture stores in Area. Ocala.Leesburg. etc. Almost all have extensive web sites. Get your basics and have fun exploring Consignment as well as Estate sales. Welcome to The Villages.

where to get furniture

Locally on 441 is Whites. They sell Lazy Boy which I like. Also in Ocala is Kanes got all my bedroom sets there. Avoid City Furniture.

La lamy 10-20-2020 07:37 AM

Kijiji. Craigslist.

ProfessorDave 10-20-2020 07:40 AM

We had the same circumstance.
Found "NATE" - who works out of a warehouse.
Most of his furniture is from the same sources as ASHLEY.
We picked out what we wanted - knowing it was ASHLEY quality.
He ordered it - brought it to our home - set it up.
And - we saved over 35% vs. ASHLEY prices when they are on sale.
Saved literally - thousands!

Good luck!

Agree. Family Furniture

When we purchased our home, we basically had eight days to purchase all the furniture. We went to bargains and treasures and we were thrilled with what we found there. We found furniture that must’ve been from liquidation or model homes that was brand new with the tags still on it for a fraction of the cost that we would’ve paid new. The secret is to go around the same time every day because they are constantly unloading the truck and you need to be there to find the really great items before anybody else gets them.We also were very happy with furniture that we found in a furniture store on the way to Leesburg. We got our bedroom sets there. They were fabulous with us unfortunately I can’t remember the name but there’s a string of furniture stores on the way to Leesburg on the left-hand side of the highway and all of them offered something nice at reasonable prices. But I still stop in bargains and treasures frequently. You just never know what a wonderful thing you’re going to find.

Concur on both.

Same with us! It was an empty house. We have quite a few pieces from Kent furniture. It is our “go to” store. We bought a few pieces from Babette and one piece from Kane furniture. When we first moved here we bought from City Furniture. The pieces did not hold up (except for one small recliner and two end tables.). Kent also has some cute “Floridian” furniture. We have not been disappointed. Welcome, and have fun shopping!

lstevenson1470 10-20-2020 08:33 AM

We just moved in too, and had furniture we needed. We bought from estate sales (estatesales.org), individuals selling pieces (marketplace on Facebook), and Almost Perfect on Rt 27/441 north of The Villages (an enormous inventory in three buildings).

Great prices nice selection
Not a problem

Just wait, the delivery will be a disaster and not on time, the set up will be done incorrectly, the furniture will subsequently fail (break), and then you will finally give up and go somewhere else to get good furniture after wasting hours trying to deal with the worst customer service experience of your lifetime. There is a reason I refer to them as $hitty Furniture.

vr3nav 10-20-2020 09:22 AM

I have complete sets of furniture for sale for LR, DR, Mstr BR & Lanai for in a Villa I just sold. It must be removed by next Mon. You can see furniture on Zillow at 1661 Summerchase Loop, TV. Call me at 678-873-6219 if you have questions. Dave...

Almost Perfect is far from it. Sold us brand new Ashley Couch, loveseat and “leather,” chair then stamped all receipts “as is”. Ashley refused to honor warranty claiming we bought used. But it was brand new - check your receipt for anything new at Almost Perfect - cannot be trusted. Used was ok but not new!

I was interested in the free design program. I don't know if I have the skill to furnish a whole house from scratch.

We went to City Furniture high priced and terrible delivery service which is pricy. Went to Almost Perfect was surprised how much new furniture they had great prices.

Stay away from city furniture Babette’s. Kent Ashley furniture online is great ! Go north away from the villages ! Message for all large purchases is farther away good values

Wayfair and overstock are good for online

We used Babettes at the location on 441 but did purchase a bedroom set from City Furniture.

Centsible Furnishings on highway 441 on the right about a mile north of 42 (you will pass it on the way to Almost Perfect Furniture). It's a thrift store that is designated as upscale. The selections change as donations come in and if you hit it just right you may find one of those unique treasures that you just have to have. The store's profits go to support their charity that helps needy families in the area. It's a nice store and a great organization that does a lot of good. It's a favorite of many and the parking lot is often full. Check it out.

Be prepared to wait a long time for some items!

My son purchased a dining room, living room, bedroom and laundry room pieces on or around mid JUL. The dryer came 8/10. The washer came 9/27. The dining room set came at the end of JUL. The TV came within days of purchase. The window coverings came in mid SEP. The living room set (including the entertainment center to hold the TV that had been sitting on the floor) came at the beginning of OCT along with the new mattress and pillows. The bed frame and end tables to go with it are not coming until NOV 20th. My daughter (who moved here in MAR) had the same experiences....BEWARE

butch69 10-20-2020 01:05 PM

The quality is also the worth the price. Much better than City Furniture.

DAIII 10-20-2020 01:21 PM

If you buy anything from city furniture, get the extended warranty. the furniture is that far deeply built in chyna that without it, it's garbage when it breaks. Now - most people won't buy extended for furniture?? (neither did I) until 3 months in the color started to come off on the couch (no I don't wear blue jeans) - and without the ext warranty it's mnfg 1 year in which they send parts and someone rebuilds the couch in your living room. NO THANKS- I donated it as junk.

HappyRetired 10-20-2020 01:34 PM

There's a place in Wildwood run by veterans. They are choosy about what they take, so I'd check them. Prices are good. Many people watch estate sales. You can get some good furniture especially bedroom or dining room. Living rooms depend on if it was furniture from homes bought turn-key or new furniture bought after moving here. We found older pieces weren't comfortable or were "very" used. But with all used places or sales it's hit or miss.

cologal 10-20-2020 02:11 PM

We found some good used furniture at Bargains and Treasures when we moved here. Now that we are moving to Arizona any furniture we don’t take will head back there!

carolfry44 10-20-2020 04:05 PM

You can find some really quality furniture in the classified ads from people who have moved here with their good furniture and it doesn't fit the house or whatever. You can save thousands of $$'s. Keep your eyes open, some of the furniture is like brand new.

dnobles 10-20-2020 04:58 PM

Be prepared to wait. I ordered in February received in July. Ordered more 7/21 received early October

Babette’s has 20% off everything in October. Once you purchase any big pieces of furniture, all accessories becomes 30% Off for 30 more days. Order right away because it can take a very long time to get some pieces in.
