Sumter Tire in Wildwood on 301 just south of the railroad overpass about a block.

Had the same situation as another poster with a nail to close to sidewall they said. These were 70k Michelin Radials with 15,000 miles , R 19s and cost $1400. They told me they cannot repair it and had no replacement tire that size. Wanted to quote me on 4 new tires. I said no way, put air in it and I moved on to the dealer in Wildwood. $15 later and on my way home. This was the Colony Plaza store. These guys are so shady.

Boycott Tire Choice they are rip offs only got me for $60 bucks it's the principle.

:rant-rave:I always take my 2 golf carts 2 times a year for $55 service spring and fall.
Oil grease gas filter oil filter yada yada yada

This past time the service man called and said that my fuse holder was corroded and it should be replaced. They would change it over to a fusible link for $60
I have no tools here and at the time it seemed feasible to me.
Pick up my cart paid the bill $115 plus dollars
Got home Googled fusible link and it's a wire that cost retail $2.99 it's six inches long
Takes less than 10 mins to install
Tire Choice you have lost a customer forever

Tire choice seem to be the place to go if you want to be ripped off. You guys that work there must be very proud of yourselves remember what goes around comes around.

I recently overheard the guys at the front desk discussing how "corporate isn't interested in repeat customers". Well that explained it for me.

I would never take my golf cart to a place that tries to fix cars. Where is the trained individual that knows golf cars that works there? Just because they are mechanics, doesn't mean they can fix whatever comes through the door.

I just want to let you know what happened to my sister, Elba, who lives in the Villages. She went to the Tire Choice store on Wedgewood Lane to get a Lube oil and Filter change and a tire rotation. Her neighbor went with her to bring her home. Prior to leaving the person at Tire Choice asked her if she needed anything else done. He said they will do an inspection and let her know the condition of her car. She said if it needs any SAFETY items let her know. Remember, she is 80 years old and lives by herself. Her car is a 2005 Toyota Camry with less than 20,000 miles on it. She had been getting it serviced at Quality Tire on 466, but he was closed for a while. She got a call from the guy at Tire Choice and he told her that she neede to have the following SAFETY items done, Brake System Flush, Power Steering System Flush, Transmission System Flush, Coolant System Flush, Complete 4 wheel allignment and recommended Premium Synthetic Oil Change. Well not being aware, she said ok. He said the bill would come to around $2450. Luckily, her neighbors son was visiting and she asked him about the list. He immedialtely took her back to Tire Choice and they stopped most of the work. Some work, to the tune of $1536 was already done or in progress. This was a total RIP_OFF of a defenceless elderly lady.

You may want to pass this on to your friends and neighbors. I had my son, who is a Pa. State Trooper, make some phone calls. He contacted the Sumter County Sherrif's office and they were not too helpful. They told him to have my sister come to the Annex office in the Villages and give them the information. I will be talking to her today .

Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend

This is a every day problem at this place. Buyer beware.

Tom78 12-29-2014 10:42 AM

Tire choice is no place to take a car for repair unless you have money to throw away.

Chi-Town 02-08-2015 01:35 PM

I needed two 18 inch Bridgestone Dueler SUV tires. Walmart was $156.00 ea. Tire Choice was $210.00 ea. That is 35% higher for the same tire.

Happinow 02-08-2015 03:24 PM

Why?????

It seems that those of you who have posted negative experiences with Tire Choice on here must have read previous negative experiences. I have to wonder why one would go there for services when they have been warned and others have been ripped off? Can anyone explain? Maybe it's the "it won't happen to me" syndrome.

they ripped me off for $1500.00 worth of unnecessary repairs...whe u are a single woman u hope that the local merchants protect you and take care of you, it makes me so sad to think that is NOT the case and you have to be weary of everyone and everything you are paying for... I am surprised that the villages allows this to continue after all these complaints.

It is what we Americans call free enterprise. What ever the market will bear. This well heeled and rapidly growing community can bear a great deal but some who really can't afford it get burnt in process.

Yeah really. None of those items were related to safety. The only brake system flush should be done when the brake fluid circuit is compromised by water or other contamination. Totally sad a business to prey on an senior citizen. We always use Sumter Tire.:cus:

Happi, you spend time on TOTV, but the reality is only some Villagers ever sign up for TOTV and way fewer ever look at it!!

tuccillo 02-09-2015 08:23 AM

When in doubt, consult the owner's manual for maintenance items. For example, Honda's maintenance schedule calls for brake fluid flushes every 3 years.
