We had a room added behind the Golf Cart Garage. Not for a hot, tub, but I guess it could be for that. We didn't use either of the companies you referred to, but we did get a quote from Gingrich. We wound up using T&D. Their price was in the same price range as Gingrich and the other one we got. Used T&D because they have been around forever and we felt they had a better reputation.

About the time we were interested in getting estimates for a project, we received a cold call from Gingerich asking us if we had any construction needs. I said yes, we would like to get an estimate. They made two trips to our house to talk, take measurements, etc. but never gave us a quote. I called them back several times but never got a response. About two months later we received another cold call from Gingerich asking if we had any construction needs. I answered that we had two visits from you already but you apparently decided not to give us an estimate. Hard to figure what the issue was - I guess they were too busy but that brings into question why they weren't too busy to make two trips to our house.

You must be mistaken in this post, Gingerich co. does not cold call for any of their leads. The salesman I worked with was very knowledgeable and low pressure, did exactly what we asked and even provided a computer generated rendering of the proposed project. We have done TWO different projects with them now and could not be happier with the end results. They were very professional and the customer service was top notch.

I am not mistaken. They cold called us twice. I don't know where they got our number from. The sales guy was nice but didn't follow through with a quote despite several calls back.

Currently, we are in the throes of construction by turning our lanai into a permanent, enclosed family room. We are also adding on a 17 x 22 ft. room on one side of our house.

The contractor doing our job is John Mellado of San Mella, Inc. Johnny was one of the permanent contractors for the homes here in The Villages until he went out on his own and only does additions and renovations. He is professional and his work is excellent. He can be reached at 352-504-2676.

If you would like to see our project which is about half completed, send me a PM and we will be happy to show you his work.

Having another bath added. Chose T&D. I have NEVER run into a more delightful, well organized, warm and well informed professional than Vera. T&D does all the pools currently and for the past twenty years for the developer.

What is the cost per square foot for the additions, if you don't mind sharing that information.

Have Lantana home in Village of Caroline. Just added bedroom on front of house and extended garage 4' toward street. Used Juliano Designs and Dibarco Construction both of Wildwood. Very pleased with outcome. They used T&D for block & concrete, Pike Electric, Sacks Roofing, Romac, their painter and carpenter and we are very pleased with result. Debarco a Wildwood contractor with ties to many trades in area. End result was just what we wanted and we competitively bid the job with two other local contractors.

I'm curious about additions. Are you allowed to add onto a courtyard villa?

Judging from the experience of a few neighbors and a couple of attempted projects of our own, I'd estimate that you can figure for a 400 sq ft block & stucco basic garage project to run about $100/sq ft. Make it a living area with fancy fans, fixtures, flooring, woodwork, insulating windows, HVAC, etc and you are probably starting at $125 and approaching $150/sq ft. Obviously, more if you add plumbing and get real fancy inside.
