Default Seco scam alert

From the SECO energy website itself:

SECO Members in The Villages Targets of Payment Scam – SECO Energy

If you don't want to click, here's the summary: scammers are calling Villagers, demanding immediate (within 30 minutes) payment or they'll shut off power.

There are trucks in the area to fool people into thinking it's legit.

SECO will NEVER show up demanding payment in person at your door, will NEVER accept payment at your house, and will not turn your power off after business hours or on weekends.

This is a SCAM. If you are hit with it, call the police. DO NOT PAY, do not agree to pay, do not agree to talk with anyone, and do not answer the door if the pretenders show up.

I am so tired of scammers. I would vote for a law requiring mandatory neutering of convicted scammers so they can't reproduce.

Man, that's pretty ballsy to have someone roaming the neighborhood ready to swoop in and collect from people that agree to pay. Hopefully they can set up some kind of sting operation and catch these people.

They're getting permission. That's why it's a problem. That's what makes it a scam. Some folks are gullible, especially the elderly, who are the #1 most prolific target of scams. They are preying on the elderly and they have a smorgasbord of easy pickins by targeting the Villages.

Everyone is tired of scammers, but you are much too kind.

Mandatory neutering? Naw. Bring in Lorena Bobbit!
