As mentioned be sure the shelving does not give you a problem getting into and out of your car.

I attached my shelving to the ceiling for long term storage. But remember the downside is you need a ladder to get to it and you do not want to store stuff you use very offen and it may be a problem as you age. Also consider using a pully system mounted to the ceiling for items such as bikes. Tools can be hung on the ceiling racks also. I would not buy anything until you spend a couple of weeks in the home. I think any type of shelving will work. Remember, only store items that can take the heat.

All good suggestions. Let me tell you what NOT to do. Don't look at one of your issues of Family Handyman (like I did) or go to their web-site for suggestions. I did and built a unit of my own. Although it came out pretty good, even if I say so myself, it wound up costing me more for materials than if I bought a nice metal one from Sam's Club. Also, a lot of work. Way more than what they estimated.

We bought standalone wire shelving. Inexpensive yet sturdy enough. 18d x 48W x 72H. 4 shelves per rack. We have them on both long walls.

We have ventilated metal shelving and use plastic totes. In addition, I found plastic covers that fit over the shelves that you can zip up so all the totes or whatever else you store on them (pressure cooker) don't get dusty. We've been here a year (from northern VA, near Quantico, and I am am originally from Queens). So far, so good.

I did this on the back wall...

And put wire shelving units on the sides.

Guess your garage is deeper than ours. Once our Camry is in not enough space to do what you did. I see why so many people leave cars outside.

Someday when we get another car with be difficult to put two in at same time.
