You said you “filed” your taxes through TurboTax.

Why would you need to prove anything if they have been filed ???

Unless you meant that you “completed” your taxes and have not yet SUBMITTED them to the IRS ???

In any event, it has been posted numerous times that you don’t need to submit (file) your taxes until the July 15 deadline extension......

I was in the same situation, having had AARP Tax Aide do my taxes for the past few years for free. I decided to try Turbo Tax and was very happy with the process. They talk you thro everything and even e-file for you for nothing. All free, although they try to sell you an upgrade, but I found it wasn't necessary.

New Deadline is July 15, instead of the usual April 15th.

I agree with stits128. Why wait at all? TurboTax or go to the IRS site and file free on-line. They take you through step by step and you fill in the information that is applicable to you. You pay or get refunds through your bank account--and they show you how to do that too. Just like AARP, except you have to type it yourself.

I'm not so sure of that. If you read the IRS notice from the link that was provided earlier in this thread, it seemed to say you still must file or file for an extension by April 15. If you owe money, you have until July 15th to pay

Listening to/watching channels/sites that actually give out facts and not "hunches"...goes a long ways in staying up-to-date.

That could be, but the latest notice on the IRS website is as of 3/18, which is what I quoted. I would triple check before I acted on information from the television, lest you get into a penalty situation

File Here

Quote:

The income tax filing date has been pushed back from April 15 — the deadline will now be July 15, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.

Mnuchin announced the decision in a tweet Friday saying that at President Donald Trump’s direction “we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15.

All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.”
