These prices seem high. Anyone out here change their water heater at a lower cost, and with which contractor?

Last year my insurance company said they wouldn’t insure my home unless we replace the water heater. Did so for $970 electric.

How about the cost of a tankless water heater? I am putting in a pool/spa and have a soaking tub and thought we should go the tankless route. Existing water heater is on the opposite side of the wall where the tankless will go plus we could use the sq ft in the garage. We have a company lined up to install the gas lines to the new spa heater and to an outdoor kitchen and the line goes right past where the new tankless will go. they will put the line to the new unit.

Hi Janie, we can set up free estimate at your home for this work. Usually when transitioning from tank to tankless need to make sure electrical of the home's panel can handle the changes. Some tankless units require lots of power. You are welcome to text me info or email. Also recommend Pike's Electric for electrical needs. If you want to send all info to my daughter, Casandra, at Pike's Electric she can help us get started with estimates if you like.

What is the warranty on the electric water heater?

3105boy 09-14-2023 08:32 AM

How much to replace just the sacrificial anode? I did that on a 10 year old 75 gallon gas water heater and saved a lot of $$ and the planet.

So obviously, this post is posted by a plumbing company
$875 to change out an electric hot water heater seems expensive to me
How much is the material? All you need is the new tank a couple hoses in a roll of Teflon tape. Material shouldn’t be over $550 if I’m correct on the cost of materials then that leaves $325 to change out a tank which once it’s drained, should be done in an hour or less.

Correction: The OP's quote does include an expansion tank. So, in my opinion, the quoted price is reasonable, especially if the existing water heater does not already hafe an expansion tank. This could required additional piping.

I'd sure hope so. We'll see what the OP says.

It says expansion tank included. Does anyone have first hand experience/knowledge about State electric water heaters versus competitors?

I stand corrected. I changed my post.

Does the price quoted include the TECO rebate or do we receive the rebate from TECO directly?

askcarl 09-14-2023 10:26 AM

Is this an AD or Public Service posting?

Just asking...
