Default Update..advanced construction

Originally posted back few months. Had lanai enclosed (acrylic) in June, wnet back to NY..Lanai is leaking nice puddles all over and have gone back & forth with Advanced constructions..They have been out to repair many times but still not fixed..He makes many excuses..it's the windows they are not made to be airtight and "this if Florida..it rains alot"..my sprinklers are causing the problem. etc..every excuse besides "I installed incorrectly"..Seniors agains Crime says their hands are tied as "they are an uncooperative company"..they told me to take him to small claims court..difficult to do as I still live in NY..
Just wanted you to know I stand my my original statement "do not use Advanced Construction"..
Now I need a contractor to install a big hot tub in my lanai..that way..the water will have a place to run off .....

Laura,
Thank your for the information on Advanced Contruction. We are planning on enclosing our lanai and adding a birdcage. I have been asking for recommendations on good contractors but I appreciate the negative information also. Advanced has been removed from our list of potential contractors.

We're interested in having our 15' X 28' screened birdcage covered with a regular roof so that we can enjoy it when it rains. So far we've had estimates from Advanced Construction, Gingerich Construction, with Corban Construction coming today. White does a real good job of closing existing hard roofed lanais, but their proposal for our hard roof looked like an afterthought. I've seen a few negative posts re Advanced, but they also come recommended by several friends of friends. We're going to visit one of these folks today. So far, all companies are in the same price range. Any additional experiences good or bad with any of the above? We'll have to make a choice within the next few days.
Thanks,All

Hi, we also are almost ready to go, on our lanai with glass windows, using Express Windows. Any input on this conpany would be really appreciated as this is a big expense for us and hope to get the righr company. Thanks, All.

Default Advanced Construction

We had the lanai of our first home expanded and enclosed with full length 3/8 acrylic sliding windows/doors; contractor was Advanced Construction. When the job was finished there were large spaces below and above the sliding panels. Advanced claimed Custom Windows mismeasured. Custom Windows claimed Advanced didn't build proper opening. After many "discussion" the issue was resolved mostly. However, I would not use Advanced again for my present home. Also, after enclosing the first lanai, it became much too hot to use May - Sept. Even with windows opened it cut down on the breeze and was suffocatingly hot. Do not plan to enclose current lanai. BTW-I have heard positive recommendations on Express Windows, no first hand experience.

Default Update to advanced construction

Here it is February, the owner had Custom Windows come out to check the windows for any faults (because he is blaming them) early last month..He refuses to admit they were improperly installed even when you can see with the naked eye the gaps left after installation. I have heard nothing from the owner although I keep calling to leave messages..
I will say it again..DO NOT USE ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION !!!!!!!!

We dodged a bullet by not using Advanced Construction to install a glass block wall on the end of our Lanai. They showed up to measure and then would never get back to us with a quote. We went with Gingerich Construction Co. and they did a beautiful job.

Default acrylic windows

You did not say if you were happy with them, Gingerich. Does anyone else recommend a company to install acrylic windows on a lanai? Is it better to have single pane glass windows? A contractor told me that they are not taxed and do not have to be brought up to code, unless they are double pane.

We used Martin Alunmium to install windows on our lanai. They did a great job from the day of the estimate to installation. I would recommend them!

Default Advanced Construction

Hi,
Sorry to hear you had a problem with Advanced Construction. We added a small den to our home and we more than happy with the work. Everything was done on time and the cost was reasonable. Hopefully they will do right by you and correct all of your problems.
