Default What Contract? Replace window with slider

We are looking to replace a kitchen window with a sliding glass door. Our home is a block house. We can hire T&D but looking to get other options. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks in advance.

Cannot reply to which contractor to use, 2 neighbors used T&D for these type projects, results look fine to me. You will need ARC approval for your project (no cost, about 2 weeks for review). I am assuming the slider will be significantly wider than the existing window, therefore a new lintel beam will need to be installed. Plan on lots of concrete dust and noise. No idea how the house will be secured while the hole is being enlarged before the slider is installed, be sure to ask. Double check on the availability of matching tile, in case you need some for the area of the new opening. There will be several building permits required these should be obtained by the contractor. Good luck with your project.

Lowe's. We had them (one of their sub-contractors) replace our old and worn out cheap slider with a very nice new Pella slider with blinds between the glass. They did a great job and their price was half of what Doc's Restorations wanted.

There is big difference between replacing slider and putting a large hole in wall , Docs and Lowe’s just subcontract job out, deal with someone direct T&D whose done some work for me or someone like them

We had a similar project done to our Boxwood designer home about 5 years ago. We replaced the kitchen window with french doors and added a small patio and birdcage. We use it for our BBQ and a safe area for our dogs to hang out. This is a fairly major bit of work requiring ARC, permits, etc. We ended up going with Melton Construction (352-259-7748) and were (still are) very happy with the results. Their bid was a little lower than T&Ds and they did not have a long waiting list (unlike T&D). You are likely looking at 10K+ or so depending on how big the total project is (patio? Birdcage? etc).

Agreed....we're not replacing a slider. We are removing the window, making the opening big enough and putting in a slider.
