[QUOTE=toddao;1822723]I'm considering a switch from Verizon to Consumer Cellular to save a little money. I currently pay about $130/mo (including taxes and fees) for two phones. It appears I can switch to CS for about $50 - $60 with 10GB of data. Consumer Reports rates them #1.

If you are using Consumer Cellular, how do you like it? Data speed, customer service, voice/text response time, etc.

I was considering CC and didn't get one negative comment from anyone I talked to personally who used the service, including relatives. However, this may not apply to you, but since I was a Comcast customer, friends convinced me I had nothing to loose by trying their free cell service. Of course it's not actually "free", most tell me I could find a cheaper option as a TV supplier, but, while I don't like the bill, I do like the (relative) dependability Comcast has provided for TV and internet. So, I consider their free cell service a real bargain. The two phones, with unlimited talk & text, and some limits to data which has had no effect on us since the phones do have the advantage of automatically connecting to all Xfinity hot-spots (which are literally everywhere in the USA on every corner), so two phones add at most, $11 a month for both, not each, and many months no charge at all. At one time you had to have an Apple phone, no longer, we have Samsung.

Why did you leaveCC?

Have had Consumer Cellular well over a year now. I’m on the at&t network through them, which is the same network I was on before them, only directly with at&t. I have seen no difference whatsoever, but am saving a solid $50 per month. Sounds like you’ll save quite a bit more. No reason not to do it. I also have two phones.

Great service. Been using over 8 yrs. Paying$59/mth for 2 lines w/free text & more data than we come close to using.

We’ve been using Consumer Cellular over 2 years and have had no problems. Coverage is excellent in all States and pay $51.00 for 2 iPhones. That’s all we’ve ever paid. We highly recommend Consumer Cellular.

I was with AT&T for over ten years at about $160.00 @. Month.
Switched to Consumer about six months ago for $70.00@ month
Very happy with the change.

After reading all the comments, I'm considering trying CC. I have Boost mobile, though the price is reasonable at $30 per phone per month unlimited, I have grown to hate their customer service. I hardly use my phone for calls. Signal is unreliable, phone never rings goes to voicemail and blocked callers can still leave a voicemail. Had a horrible experience at the Boost store on 441; they sold us the wrong charging cable for spouse's phone after looking at the phone, then refused exchange or return. Terrible business practices, total ripoff. Out $20 but it's the principle of the thing! Stay away from Boost. So frustrating!

Have you checked into Verizon's Senior Plan? I have 2 lines, unlimited talk, unlimited date for $40 per line with all the taxes we pay $89 for 2 lines. Call them (I call the local offices here scattered around The Villages) or go online.

Anyone with Consumer Cellular and AT&T SIM card in Sanibel? We currently have AT&T and a microcell from them in order to to get service. Wondering if we switch to CC how the service will be and will it work with the microcell. Does T-Mobil work well in Sanibel? Any thoughts out there? Thanks.

Verizon has a 55 and older plan that cost me about $72 per month unlimited data and calls to mexico and canada

Like Consumer Cellular

I cut my Verizon bill in half when I went with CC. Have had it for 2 years. Very satisfied. Network coverage has been adequate when I traveled.

I've had CC since 2004. They have been great. You can choose an AT&T or a T-Mobile SIM. You can even change your mind if you find the signal is weak in your area.

Great company and great prices.
