Interesting.....

We just had an appliance repair company come to our home up north to fix our ice maker. They said they couldn't because of the way the water pipes/hoses (I didn't quite understand what they were talking about) were set up in our home. I asked if I could just buy a new refrigerator and they said it still wouldn't work.

I called in a second repair company, told them what the first company said. After much eye rolling, they fixed it and it works like new!

I wonder if maybe the person doing your instal just didn't know what they were doing.

MN2FL Minnesota you said "The Villages". I suspect we are addressing State code? Was there any reference to county. In otherwords is this a county thing? A matter of who built your house or Villages-wide?????...or something pertiaining to Home Depot Corporate policy????

This is an interesting guide to Kenmore appliance manufacturers:

This is a question for military retirees. Do the area base PX/NEXs sell furniture and appliances? Are their prices with delivery competitive with TV area vendors?

Agree!

Check your prices against this company in NY, they are less $$

If you have bisque in your kitchen now, Sears is really the only place I know that sells them in this area. They have sales going on all the time. Kenmore and Whirlpool (same manufacturer I believe) make pretty good dishwashers.

Appliance Direct. We have purchased refrigerator, washer, dryer & dishwasher from them over the years and have been very satisfied.

Appliances - Kitchen Appliances - Home Appliances

Thanks Jimbo for this reference. AJMADISON is a great source to shop various refrigerator models, far more than any local appliance store could ever offer. We've been shopping for a new refrigerator and hit just about every appliance store in the area: HD, Lowes, Best Buy, Appliance Direct, Sears, and finally HH Gregg. The French door models seem to be the most popular in these stores but didn't work for us because of the space. From the AJMADISON web site we were able to find two models (a Whirlppol and a Maytag) that met our needs. We then went to HH Gregg in Ocala to place our order. As you might expect the salesman in the local appliance stores appear to be familar with what's on the floor, and didn't seem to know about other models. Some here on TOTV have raved about Appliance Direct in Fruitland Park but their showroom is pretty shabby and their price was no better than HH Gregg. Shabby sometimes suggests that you're going to get a great price but our visit to AD didn't give us a "warm n'fuzzy" as they say.

If you buy from the Sears store on 27/441, please be aware that it is a franchised store. My neighbor had a terrible time getting warranty service as she was told it is considered a "resale" since it did not come from a company store. Finally, after a month long campaign of phone calls and letter writing, she was able to get the service.
