whole house water filter
As I was looking to replace the filter in my frig, I learned that the new filter would also filter out the pharmaceuticals that have leeched into our water.
I know about Brita and Pur..... Since I use water to cook, to shower in, to brush my teeth and yes, drink from the bathroom sink, I am looking for a whole house water filter. There was a booth at the Home Expo at lake Sumter Landing and I lost the business card. Other than Sears, does anyone know of a local business that installs whole house water filters? Thanks |

The system installed by Keily by comparison is tiny compared to the Nova system.

So hopefully there will be a response that highlights the features and cost of the two systems. |

I dismantled it, it is simply a 2" x 10" paper thin element with carbon kinda like two coffee filters glued together with carbon granular in between is the best way to describe it. No pressure gauges, which are very important, the Nova cartridges should last 18-24 months plus Certainly not a solid block of high grade carbon 4"x20" made of coconut shell. No dual stage sediment filtration Being one canister there is really no apples to apples comparison to be made as you said Bill the sheer magnitude speaks for itself. |

We recommend Puronics - from LCRG/Glacier Water, Inc. This took the smell and terrible taste out of our water! We opted for the stainless steel unit which requires no owner maintenance - i.e adding salt, slightly softens the water, as I did not want totally soft water and is regularly checked by the company to ensure performance. Suggest you contact Robert Cartier at 352-245-5447.

NUVO is a citrus based filter that is becoming popular. I've had them all and carried the salt around and tried different filters. In my LA office we just put in the NUVO system for the two bathrooms and kitchen and it is nothing short of amazing. If you check their site they can tell you who carries them and who can install them. In LA we simply bought one for 500.00 and had our plumber put it in for 75.00
Change once a year. |

You may wish to read this about the Nuvo, not to be confused with Nova system.
It requires twice a year at $60 each or $120 a year. It is a softener NOT a filter, so at best you get dirty soft water....is that what you want? the wording is miss leading it is not a filter at all. |

My friends have one of the NOVA 3 cartridge units. Having spent time at their home drinking, bathing and laundry, I was very impressed.
I can't stand the smell, and the taste of the water at home, so I am looking forward to making an appointment to have one installed when I return in June. |
