Buildout was a myth created by the salespeople to help drive sales. If you consider the location of Brownwood, if SR44 was to be the end it would have been built where Truman and Roosevelt golf courses are so it would be surrounded by its customers. Brownwood's location was known in the late 1990's, watch this video The Building of Brownwood - Exciting Construction Plans - YouTube at about the 2 minute mark. It was always planned to continue as we see it now, these developments and large land deals take years to make, sometimes decades, they had to get all the zoning and regulations worked out south of 44. This was not the grand kids doing, this was Harold Swartz and Gary Morse's planning.

Do you really think the developer would announce "in 2 years I'm going out of business", that is what buildout would be. Imagine the economic collapse in Sumter and surrounding counties from losing over 10,000 jobs.

I have enjoyed your information about the Villages and all of their fees. My question is from talking to those that have been here a while that The Villages was suppose to stop developing at a certain point and maintain what we have, which would be even more cost affective. What happened to this concept?
