Mr. Rogers is likely in the on-deck circle. Some things I don't quite understand anymore.

Mr. Potato Head brand goes gender-neutral, dropping "Mr." title

When will this stop!!!!!!!!!

Hasbro clarified that while the brand is changing, the actual Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head characters will still live on and be sold in stores. In a picture posted on Twitter, the “Mr.” and “Mrs.” names are less prominently displayed at the bottom of the box, instead of the top

:agree: However, judging by the overall slant of this thread (and too many others), throwing in facts is not going to get in the way of an indignant rant... :ohdear:

Facts have a way of getting in the way once you have a fantasy that allows you to rant and rave.

What folks are missing is the long, dangerous fall when you must face reality. Then again, it appears that some are willing be be “treated” to fantasies instead of reality.

It will be a fall for many when facing reality.

Never in my life did I imagine that I would live in a world that is changing the gender of a plastic potato.

Mark Twain said something like we do not make any progress because as we move forward we lose what was.

My childhood. I must have been deprived. My parents did not have much money.
Deprived? I never had a potato head. We did not have food to play with. Regrets?
I always want the 64 color box of crayola. I bought a box at one of the dollar stores for a buck. Strange, my brother in law, who I am not close to did the same.

Normal? We cannot control where things are moving. Normal was not normal it is only what we remember it was. Like it or not, we will not go back to what was if, it was as we remember it was.

Well some people must think that a plastic potato should have rights!

You know, even if they change the name of Mr. Coffee to Person Coffee - you're still allowed to call it Mr. Coffee. Same thing when Sugar Smacks and Sugar Crisps changed THEIR names. You can call them whatever you want, no one will take your precious adjectives and nouns away from you.

For God's sake, it's a freaking TOY, don't we have bigger things to worry about?

We are talking about the advertising power in the name of products that help sell them. Mr. has always had connotations even beginning with...."WAIT a minute there, MR.!!!!!" You use all tools to sell a product. I always picked up my "Aunt Jemima" products with the sweet smiling, chubby older face and thought how warm and welcoming she looked. SHE, her picture drew us to the product and that helped sell it. I am sure Jeep uses the word Cherokee for one of it's models because it brings images of handsome and strong and wild and free and other good things. People try to give brands they want to sell a connotation that will be attractive.

Capitalism is NOT a bad word. It is the strength that runs our economy in this country. Advertising has a new culture. I rarely see anyone on Television touting a product or service that looks at all like the folks I see everyday. Maybe that is good and enlarging but it isn't always "old shoes-comfortable".

No one can make you use “gender neutral speak”!

I bet Mr. PH can reunite with MIssus White from Clue and they can have all sorts of uncensored fun games in Toyland.
