The only thing being shut down are stand-alone bars. For instance: the tiki huts at the town squares. They don't serve food there at all. They are bars. As far as I know, the Villages doesn't have any actual bars on any of its properties, so we aren't affected by this change. If you leave the Villages and go to some areas outside, you'll see some bars. Those are closed. |
SUBMARINE, I don't think so.

Not sure of any bars in the Villages except maybe World of Beer. |
Back in Ohio
I'm a snowbird who arrived back in Ohio on 6/6. Ohio was pretty buttoned up until that very week. Places opened allowing 50% capacity. Policy was/is to sit down, order a drink and DON'T GET UP AND WALK AROUND W/IT. (Ya, I caught hell.) Problem is in the summertime boardwalk situation (here on Lake Erie) filled w/vacationers, nary a mask in sight. Our numbers are rising here, too, but nothing like Florida. I am a bit surprised Gov. DeWine here hasn't insisted on masking as he has been out in front of the crisis in the past.

Bars are not allowed to serve. Some are saying places like City Fire is a restaurant not a bar. Have you seen the "outside restaurant" of City Fire. Wall to wall.people around the "not a bar" area. They are not eating they are drinking alcohol. Hmmm I must be mistaken thinking it's not a bar.

The order was for bars/lounges. City Fire is a restaurant with a bar. There is a difference.

FMK Restaurant Group owner Fred Karimipour said his eateries will continue to serve alcohol to customers who are sitting at tables but will suspend bar top seating and live entertainment. “We have removed bar service in accordance of the governor’s order,” said Karimipour, who owns Bluefin Grill & Bar in Brownwood, The Chop House at Lake Sumter Landing, Belle Glade Country Club, Bonifay Country Club, Evans Prairie Country Club, Orange Blossom Hills Country Club and Scooples Ice Cream Parlor. Gina Buell, who along with her husband, Mike, owns the City Fire restaurants in Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood, said she was doing the same thing. She said her customers still will be able to order drinks when seated at tables inside and outside the eateries but not at the bar area. |
I assume the the walk up kiosk bars in the town squares would fall under the closure guidelines. That very well might derail the planned re-opening of the town squares.

People may call it what ever they "think" it is or should be.
However the restaurants that do have an outside bar....that is exactly what it is.... a BAR!!!! Just because it is part of a restaurant does not allow seating shoulder to shoulder X 3 deep....in violation of the requirement for social distancing. The owners/operators should be held accountable for contributing to the potential spreading of the virus. No comment on those being inconsiderate, sitting shoulder to shoulder X 3 deep at the bar (I am trying to remain as polite as possible) |
If the governor is going to issue an executive order, I think he should have someone write it clearly so that all people with normal intelligence can understand what it means.

Big rush to open by at least three Governors have gotten them and us deep into this mess. Now, the backpeddling is on.
