If we don't like what's happening we need to do something about it. I don't see that happening in The Villages....we have tee times :)

With all that has gone on these past few weeks and currently continuing......we the people still remain the ignored majority!!

Some of us have experienced that trying to get word to the governor or his representatives net zero response!!

Only the left is allowed to protest. If the right protest they are racist losers.

Look at the Wikipedia for Black Lives Matter. This is a very loose group of activists with no organization that I can see. Not one with any kind of control over what members do.

Some may be Marxists but as far as I can tell that is something that no longer exists since the fall of the Berlin Wall and maybe before that.

It just looks like someone blowing a dog whistle and expecting a re-action.

I don’t REALLY care about Jessica Doty Whitaker!!
I didn’t know her. She was nothing to me. Probably
didn’t belong where she was anyway. She certainly
didn’t have the right to say All Lives Matter. Tomorrow
we all will have forgotten her. So why get upset over
her death?

I hope that paragraph makes you as sick as it made me to write it.

We all can post our sympathy over her and act like we
care but we don’t truly care. If we did we would do something
about it. I know you people; if not personally then in spirit.
All the above posts are singing the same tune. it.
We are absolutely disgusted over what is happening.
The George Floyd funeral made me sick.
But I am.an ignorant farm boy. I want to do something
to change the tide but don’t know what to do. I am serious.
What can we do. And please don’t say vote. There were both sides at Floyd’s funeral.
Help! Help! Help! I am sinking; right along with the rest of you.

So many of these are following instruction to “control the narrative’ every chance they get in a hope to silence the mainstream.

There's a movement, and there's an organization. It's sort of important to distinguish between the two. There are people who will use the "BLM" moniker and hide behind it in an attempt to sabotage it. Most of THOSE people - the saboteurs, are not even black. They are mostly white nationalists who create division on purpose, and put blame on the BLM movement because they want to destroy it.

For those who truly believe that all lives matter - well if you really believe that, then you won't have any problem with someone saying black lives matter. Unless you don't think their lives matter, and you're just spewing a phrase that sounds good to you.

The phrase "all lives matter" is a dogwhistle to white nationalists. It has been for awhile now. But perhaps people living in the bubble don't know that. I'm going to just assume that's so, because I would really hate to think that this forum is loaded with white nationalists.

Yes, both sides at the funeral. No one in their right mind accepts what happened. Do we have all the facts? No but we saw the videos.

No one in their right mind accepts the aftermath of violence, hatred and political input. We are in an ideological war to keep/lose the country. One side had been at it a long time and was getting places until a new person started to turn the tide. We all know this at some level.

Many do not know what to do but saying nothing, is the worst thing IMHO.

Of course All lives matter and it does not exclude blacks. Many of us have blacks as close friends. Real friends. The picture being painted is that this is not true. I don’t think it is coming from the average black person. So sad.

Another interesting thread.

The first thing I would like to point out is that it is only rumored that the BLM members were the shooters. In fact, the reports I read from the investigating police refused to confirm this.

Does anyone have hard evidence?

It does seem many are looking for reasons to hate on both sides. I can think of numerous other explanations.

LoisR 07-22-2020 06:19 PM

Hard evidence? True facts? Objective reporting? Honest summary of the events? C'mon now.
What do you think we are? Educated? Non biased? Objective?
Empathetic? Tolerant and understanding? C'mon now. Just think if we all were. Yes.

"All Lives Matter" a Dog Whistle to white nationalist ? Who is the one who keeps track of all the Dog Whistle's? That inference may be an attempt to transfer responsibility from the intent of the discussion.

One should rest their mind of fear that the forum is loaded with white nationalists. It is not.

Voicing concern to the following in a normal world with normal people should be considered patriotic. Protests that are really riots, throwing rocks at police, burning public and private property including churches, breaking & entering & stealing, destruction of public statues. Weekly activities in Chicago do not seem to recognize that BLM. That is anarchy. These are actions that are devastating and have no productive purpose. It doesn't matter if done by by black or white. It is simply wrong and should be stopped.

Makes one suspect that supporting these type of activities is far more worrisome than someone saying "All Lives Matter."

Isn't it plain that "ALL" includes "ALL" when Black doesn't mean "ALL". One statement is all inclusive. The other is truly racist. Are we really ready to permit that BLM signs should be allowed to be posted everywhere, but if anyone wants to say "ALL" that is to be condemned?
.

billethkid 07-23-2020 07:48 AM

The constant and continuing barrage of sorting out and separating and focusing on blacks needs (real or not does not matter) is in itself racist.

BLM and the media ignore the facts that the majority of the population...approximately 74% is white......hispanic and latino approximately 18%......blacks approximately 13%......

Each category has it's own strata from the haves to the have nots.

BLM and the media would have us believe the only have nots that matter are black. That is just simply put, not reality.

The notion and how it is presented is racism.

I think you are right about the protestors being a loose group of activists—for the most part, deliberately. I think a number of groups have a hand in it, and a sizable percentage of protestors are simply protesting injustice. However, a certain percentage of those leading out are ideologues with a definite political agenda of changing America. Some are anarchists, some Marxists, some socialists, some anti-capitalists, and there are more. There are Leninists, Maoists, Trotskyites, general Communists. They know the difference. We don’t really need to.

Marxists definitely did NOT disappear with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Many Marxists didn’t like the Soviet Union because they said it didn’t follow Marxism very well. One of my fellow teachers (I’ve just retired) is actually a member of the Marxist party and teaches classes in “activist writing.” Several more are very sympathetic. They write articles supporting what is going on, and they are excited.

Most people who use the word Capitalism don’t understand what Marx meant by the word in his famous book Das Capital. I can’t pretend to understand. However, in short, Marx saw Capitalism as arising out of Feudalism and predicted that it would wither away or be overthrown and replaced by Communism. Capitalism meant that the people with lots of money were able to own “the means of production” and hire people to work for them. To maximize their profits, they paid as little as they could get away with, thus oppressing workers. If, like me, you are a proud Union member, you know that definitely happened and still happens in places, and unions helped workers fight for fair pay and benefits. (And, yes, some of those leaders were corrupt and some were Communist-influenced.) When you say today that you believe in Capitalism, as do I, you aren’t saying you believe in robber barons oppressing workers. You mean you believe in the private ownership of companies that are free to try to prosper and create and invent, right? That’s not what Marx meant. A lot of Marxists today think we are still in the bad old days. But tens of millions of us are part owners of capitalist companies through our investments in mutual funds and stocks. So WE are real Capitalists with a stake in the system. But the American Capitalist system, like most elsewhere in the world, is relatively benign. There are lots of safeguards (thanks mostly to union demands and to government) that help make sure that workers and the unemployed are taken care of to some extent. It’s sort of a benevolent Capitalism. The owners have come to realize that happy, well-paid workers are less likely to waste capital by protesting or striking, and they BUY products, thus making more money for capitalists like us and providing more jobs for workers. Workers are welcome to invest, too. These modifications have actually strengthened capitalism and helped it to survive.

However, a lot of Anarchists and Marxists and Communists want to end Capitalism so that “the workers own the means of production” (to quote Marx). It really means taking everything from the rich and giving it to the poor, but with the communists in charge. I think giving workers stock so they own part of their companies is great. Lots of companies do that, including Apple, FaceBook, most banks, etc. But these Marxists and others want to destroy the Capitalist system, which means taking away our investments and leaving us dependent on social Security to stay alive.

Most BLM protestors know nothing about this. They have other motives, often good ones. When my daughter marched carrying a sign that read “Peace Matters,” it was not because she wants to overthrow the government. But some of the leaders DO. They disagree about many things, but lots of the leaders, especially the pale ones, DO.

And remember this. The way terrorism works is NOT by destroying enough stores or businesses so there aren’t any more. The aim of terrorism is to make enough of us furious that we will call for our own government to be overthrown by those who promise law and order. Then those oppressed by law and order will rise up and overthrow the law and order people. Then the groups behind the terrorists can sneak in and start running the people who feel they are oppressed.

Number 10 GI 07-23-2020 02:28 PM

There is some group that is orchestrating these riots, they are too well planned out for it to be independent group activities. The way communists movements operate is they establish cells of subversives usually small in number and they only know the people in their group and who their immediate leader is. The leader of the cell takes orders from someone over him but doesn't know anything else other than that. In most cases the cell leader doesn't even know the name of the person giving him orders. The person giving the orders to the cell leader doesn't know everyone in that cell, just the leader. It goes up the ladder just like that with no one knowing anyone else except the ones in their cell. Even the top dog may not know everyone in the subordinate cells, just the individual he gives order to who then passes the orders down the ladder. This way if one cell is busted they have no useful information to divulge to police authorities that could lead to other cells. Government intelligence organizations keep identities of operatives classified on a need to know basis. Operatives may not know anyone else outside their small group.

Yes All Lives Matter....

But...was ths the mantra from white people before the BLM movement...absolutelry NOT.

Was it the mantra from white people when a cop knelt on a black mans neck and killed him? NO. Was it the mantra when so many black young men were shot by nervous white police. No.

Admit your racism and correct it.
