The Border IS Wide Open

There is a procedure for those seeking asylum and the difficulty comes from the volume of those doing so at the moment. The process is being made more difficult by the interference from those being sent there by the governors from other states supposedly to help "guard" the border. These supposed guards are more hindrance than help. With regard to Cubans, they have been welcomed in to the US for the past 60 years and there is a special exemption for admittance for them. Many Cubans know that when they come to the southern border and that they can be accepted for asylum much easier there.

My old college roommate is a border guard and informs me that the border is wide open. They can only give the illegal aliens tickets to appear at a future date, and the vast majority of them never appear. Worse yet, is that our military are being used to move the illegals around the country to various cities. Anyone who says otherwise is gullible and uninformed.

We have so many people stuffed into unhealthy tents at our southern border with horrible conditions and that had been abused by cartel coyotes, plus a threat to the local ranchers. Our coast guards are given strict orders to not allow the people from Cuba asylum into the States. Clearly they are starved and fighting for freedom. Help me to understand the difference?!

You don’t suppose the Cuban’s are waving our American flag just to make us think they’re our side or do think they just trying to get FREE entry into the U.S. I don’t care either way BUT if they want be American citizens do it the right way & I’ll personally shake their hands!

If that is true, then why do we see videos every day of people entering the country, but never see videos of people leaving or being turned away? Seeing is believing.

I too do not understand why our government is telling Cubans they won't get in the country if they make it here especially after changing our southern border policies and allowing thousands of illegals to flood in from South American countries of which we give millions of dollars in aid every year. Of course, there are some people blaming the US sanctions on Cuba for the conditions there, but it is much more complicated that that. Somehow they forget that the Castro regime embraced the then Soviet Union, allowing them to bring nuclear missiles to Cuba and point them at the US. The communist regime also seized private property and possessions and cast their people in to poverty, or in many cases executing them or throwing them in prison, all the while becoming wealthy themselves. I'm certainly no expert on Cuba, but these are the things I remember and my heart goes out to the Cuban people who have suffered for so many years. There has to be something we can do to help them!!

Do some legitimate fact checking! What you have stated is not accurate. Cuban rebels revolted against a Fascist government in the 1950's. They tried Communism but now with the pandemic they are falling on had times. There is no easy solution under the health situation that the world is going through right now.

Finally, the voice of reason, please folks, fact check, not fox check, there is a difference, one is the truth, the other, not so much!!!

Our immigration policy has not made any sense for years.

Lots of people graduate our universities would like to stay and start businesses and employ Americans but are unable to do so due to our immigration policies.

As a result they create jobs elsewhere.

If there is a harder working group of people than Cubans have not experienced them during my time in this world

brfree1411@aol.com 07-15-2021 10:47 AM

Do you think Central America doesn't have any of those leaving? Cuban in prison are 90% there for not following the Communist government.
Do we care why people need help? I know Cuba has no petroleum so no need to intervene in that country.

brfree1411@aol.com 07-15-2021 10:49 AM

Visitors to Cuba before Covid spent dollars that went directly to the government the people did not gain anything.

Actually the difference is quite simple ( but will probably result in this thread being removed).

First let me say that back in the late sixties I had a Cuban college room mate at Cornell who's family fled Cuba as Castro took over their country. At that time, the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) was very active and in fact took over some of Cornell's buildings during their socialistic demonstrations. My friend, Jorge would put up a card table when the SDS was distributing their socialist literature and spend hours offering his own pro-America, anti-socialist/communist literature!

Generally, the Cuban society is VERY anti socialist, pro America. Those political persuasions are not in line with the current administrations desire to change our great country.

THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE!!

Thanks for posting the 1965 immigration of Cubans. Things on the island are worse than ever. Starving!! Can you imagine having nothing but water to feed your babies?
An ear infection cannot be cured, a toothache cannot be cured let alone appendicitis or any worse health issue. I don't understand how America can go thousand of miles to VIetnam, Iraq, Afghanistan but not 90 miles from our border to give humanitarian assistance.

Blueblaze 07-15-2021 10:56 AM

The solution is obvious. The Cubans need to quit expecting special treatment and do like everyone else in the world -- float a boat to Mexico so they can pay a cartel to be raped and fleeced before walking the hundred yards from the bus to America, like any other self-respecting "refugee"!

The moment they arrive, they can report to the nearest Border Patrol welcome station, where after a few days in a cage to acquire the necessary dose of COVID-19, they will be placed on a plane with other Americans and transported free-of-charge to the destination of their choice -- even Florida! All they have to do is promise to show up in court in about five years.

It's simple, when you follow the rules!
