You have drank the fool aid. They love people like you. If you died of a heart attack but had the covid virus then it is reported as a covid death. Don't you people get it? I guess not.

I can't understand the motivations of those who can't or won't accept the ignorance of our political leaders to react to the pandemic in a timely manner, and then even worse place the recovery of the economy and personal political success above the exploding levels of sickness and deaths of U.S. citizens.

We are in the early stages of a pandemic. Period. The statistics collected and reported daily are reliable. To some extent forget about the national and even statewide statistics. Those reported for Sumter County are most important to me. Those reports show a 9.2% increase in positive test results in one day -- from Thursday to Friday! There are very few if any ICU beds available in nearby hospitals and the death rate is increasing. Hopefully, it won't get to the point where refrigerated trailers are needed for the bodies. But make no mistake, this is a virus you don't want to catch. It can have deadly results and life-changing effects on human organs.

Remember the political arguments and even TV ads showing that Obamacare would result in "death panels". We're close to that point right now as the result of COVID-19. Many doctors, nurses and hospitals overwhelmed with sick patients had to make the awful decisions whether to treat the sick patient, or simply recognize that they will never recover and should be made as comfortable as possible until they die. Do we want to be a part of that?

All that is worse for senior citizens, like me and most others reading these posts, is to refuse or fail to accept the serious illness threatening us all. We'd be better off, much better off, accepting the fact that our country and ultimately our economy is under serious threat by an apolitical virus for which there is no current cure or even short-term treatment.

All any of us can do going forward is to accept the recommendations of the doctors and scientists on how to limit the spread of the virus -- stay home, use masks outside your home, wash and disinfect your hands, don't touch your face -- and pray that a cure is developed. Trying to mislead people, as was done by the initial poster here is not only shameful, but life-threatening to all of us.

Replying to the bolded parts.

The only thing that is misleading is the Sentinel chart.

Sumter County data as of today:

Attachment 85189

New cases are up, percentage of positives is down, can't say how many are actually in TV from this data

As of today Sumter County Hospitals report the following

Hospital beds at 55% occupancy
ICU beds at 82% occupancy

These are normal numbers, and not all of the beds are covid 19 patients.

They disappear them.

I was going to say the same thing, but was working through the comments first to see if anyone else caught the totally obvious. If you do not like the way something is reported, then that certain element that we are not allowed to stipulate because it may be construed as political in nature, says that you are saying something is a "hoax." Same way with how they did not like it is someone criticized a policy from the last administration. They would call you a "racist" if you did not agree.
Thanks for the information. It is great stuff as always and I agree with your supposition that the media loves to encourage mass hysteria.

In the article and headline they state "Florida's deadliest day of pandemic"

120 people did not die of covid on 7/9/2020 Nine did according to dates on the actual death certificates. The rest were deaths from earlier dates.

Look at their chart, they put all 120 deaths on 7/9/2020. Looks like a big spike.

It's BS

I'm trying to reconcile your updated chart to the one released on the state Covid-19 reporting site. They do show a slight decline in recent deaths but as you point out reporting can delay that and must be dispersed accurately. The general trend, IMHO, is going up, parsing out the last few days per your reasoning. Thoughts?

Oooh, mass hysteria! No one said that COVID-19 was a hoax, not even President Trump. Gotta love it when several jump in there and claim something that someone did not say.
Body bags lined up? Ok, maybe but I doubt we have any body bags at all being lined up in The Villages. As a matter of fact, how many exactly have died of COVID-19 in The Villages, about a dozen total? I don't think that we have had more than 8 or 9 die in the Sumter Co. portion of the Villages and that is the largest part of the Villages.
No one said to act like everything is OK, or that the virus is a hoax. No one suggested that you need to give up wearing your beautifully handmade masks. Heck, be like the Japanese and wear a mask all the time, if you wish. No one will stop you.

Just had a close relative pass this week. I was originally told that he died of COVID-19. Turned out that this man (age 94) was in surgery to have a kidney stone operation. He has a history of heart problems and bypasses/stints. They put him out and he died on the table.
I have a close relative, younger than myself that is in the hospital today WITH Covid-19. He is on a ventilator but his vitals are looking better and they are talking about removing the ventilator and moving him to a regular room.. I keep hearing that people with the virus put on the ventilator end up dying. Maybe he is the exception?
Not quite related but interesting correlation to reporting stats: During the Vietnam war, enemy casualties were exaggerated by the generals. That was to make it look like the war was being run successfully. Sound familiar?

People are lining up daily here in the villages to get tested. That means there will be more testing positive. I have seen NO indication that this means more DEATHS. As a matter of fact, in the last couple months we have seen a decline in deaths by virus in the Villages.
But if you wish to die of stress related symptoms and have it be listed as COVID-19 related, knock yourself out by joining the mass hysteria crowd. Personally, I will take precautions when warranted and worry about illness at such time as I feel ill. Not before. Please do hide in your homes. It makes the traffic situation much easier and shopping a breeze.
Instead of arguing the validity of the OP's information or opinion, you should be thanking him for doing all the research to provide valid information to you, when all you get is second or third hand rumors and news manipulation.

By the way, has anyone else noticed the lack of medic sirens in The Villages lately? It seems to me that I usually hear many more. Haven't had one in my village in a long time. Just a guess, but could it be that folks are staying home and taking better care of themselves? Just thinking out loud.

Yes that graph you linked looks accurate, you can see they put correct death total of 9 for 7/9 It's only a two week graph though, I like to see the trends since the beginning like the blue graph I posted several times.. We will probably see a slight uptick in deaths from this surge, median age of new cases for past two weeks is 35-40 so I don't think deaths will spike in a huge way since that age group doesn't die a lot. The deaths will come from younger people with hypertension or some other condition that covid preys on, or from older people that think it's safe to go out and party. Personally, I stay out of all buildings except home, curbside groceries, and golf. :icon_wink:

The number of cases are significantly undercounted. The ME is not permitted by gov disaster to share the number of deaths that occur on predeath undiagnosed patients. People are being found dead in their homes from Covid and not being counted.

Not talking jumbo-Mr. Jimbo.
Everybody knows that deaths are a LAGGING INDICATOR
Everybody knows cases are the important LEADING INDICATOR
Everybody knows it's smart to prepare for the FUTURE PLAGUE
Everybody knows there is no HOAX

Did 120 people die in Florida in one day? Nope. That makes Good Life Correct.

I also noticed on this thread that people who usually are not long-winded with their posts seem to be nowadays. Make you wonder if? Ah, forget it!

I think we are very fortunate to have people from the medical field in our midst who give of their expertise so freely and some of us seem to swat it away.

I appreciate your posts Good Life.

According to the FL Covid web site, we had 11,385 reported new cases and 93 new deaths yesterday. Those are real tragedies for families and not just numbers. So you can poo-poo the media reporting but if it leads you to disbelieving the seriousness of this pandemic, then just wait. You'll no doubt become personally enveloped in the crisis, whether as a Typhoid Mary spreader or a victim, and thus one of the statistics.

Beautiful logic. The non-believers can deny the deaths coming in Tulsa. If you REALLY want to catch a falling CV droplet and put it in your nose and brain, just go to indoor rallies or to Church. Pick your poison. I am staying home with my pet goldfish!

Does any of this really matter, those that don't believe won't until something happens inside their circle of friends or family and maybe even not then. Those that do believe something not good is happening will take the necessary precautions for themselves and others. One can always find someones chart or report or internet opinion to substantiate their views. So for me, all the opinions on here regarding the validity of what's happening are a waste of time. Too much going on in too many states to too many people to ignore....it's not just about Florida.
