if there is any indication of the seriousness of the virus it's the fact that our feel good newspaper, the Daily Sun, has now had the virus as the front page story for two days in a row.

Otherwise infection numbers will show an upward trend.
Looking at various states the trend is upward. Parts of Florida are going in that direction. TV has avoided much of this pandemic. Probably through caution of its inhabitants - who are mainly in the higher at risk categories. If TV had followed the worldwide experience then there should have been a much higher death rate.
People will believe what they want. But when they fail to take sensible precautions they are not just risking their own lives but those of many others.
That message has hit home here in the UK where we have largely suppressed COVID to the point that even though we are opening up all sorts of operations, we are keeping the rate of spread below 1 and hence cases and deaths are still falling. Hopefully we will stay on that trend. We look forward to the US getting on that trend completely if only so we can visit.
thank you for this comment. It represents a thoughtful presentation but will unfortunately be ignored by those who prefer to still think the virus is a hoax.

Please quote anyone on this thread saying the virus is a hoax. Saying the media is lying about the data is not calling the virus a hoax.

Default Headline

The headline is not a lie. The headline states 120 deaths were reported.
The information comes from the state of florida.
The headline did not state 120 died people yesterday.
Do you think the Sentinel sold one more paper because of the headline?

Sorry, I thought this was going to post under Dana1963 who reported that The Villages is averaging 20 new cases a day. Where are you getting that?

So NON panic porn, would be when the Villages Hospital AND Leesburg Hospital reported several weeks ago that COVID 19 @IS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR”. I haven’t seen a retraction on that statement . Sense they reported that they now BOTH have over 60 patients between the two hospitals. Which IS FAKE, rear view mirror or yesterday’s report.
Would be happy if someone enlightened me.

See the part in bold? That's the lie, only 9 people died that day, certainly not Florida's "deadliest day"

The head of an intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in the US state of Florida has told the BBC that the facility is struggling with the number of patients being admitted.

"We have gone from one Covid floor to two, to three, and now we have a fourth area," Dr Andrew Pastewski, ICU Medical Director at Jackson South Medical Center in Miami, told the BBC's Newshour programme.

"At some point you're going to need some kind of Covid nursing home for patients who aren't that sick but can't go back to their skilled nursing home," he added.

Dr Pastewski also told Reuters news agency that the coronavirus "destroys the strength" of his elderly patients.

"If it's an elderly person that gets intubated, you know that it's the end because we have not been able to get elderly people off the ventilator."

BBC yesterday morning.

Stear clear of the ventilators!

I trust the scientists. Tell the folks in AZ and TX it’s all a media hoax. Tell all the medical personnel who are again experiencing shortages of PPE it’s all a hoax. Good luck to you if you believe it’s all a hoax.

I guess it's all in the interpretation of the remarks. for instance this was one:

"All fake news. Panic porn sells."

to me all this quibbling ignores the fact that we have a serious problem and it's not getting better.

What I would like to know is how many deaths are caused by Covid as opposed to how many death occurred where the patient also had Covid. Someone that dies of a stroke that also has heart disease, doesn't mean he died of heart disease.

I care as should everyone. The numbers are not all going up. New cases certainly are but at present, accurate death counts by date of death currently show them going down. This could change as deaths are backfilled to correct dates in next few weeks, we will see but only if we see the data presented accurately.
