Same old bs!!!

Misleading

You numbers are very misleading. When they figure COVID numbers it is based on number of people that have positive tests. The flu numbers are based on total population. You can use percentages, you can make percentages look good or bad depending on what your motive is so please don't use misleading numbers, this is the fear mongering the press does

To really put it "in perspective" with the facts:

The hospital admission rate for COVID varies with age----2.5% ages 18-49, up to 17.2% age over 85, average 7.3%. Of those hospitalized, 15% died, could not get a breakdown by age, but WAY above 1%.

The hospitalization rate for seasonal influenza is 9.1/100,000 population or .0091%., and about 10% of Americans get the flu each year, so 0.091% vs. 7.3%
So your chances of ending up in the hospital with "the flu" is miniscule compared to COVID

I couldn't find an accurate number for the percentage of hospitalized flu cases that die, but we know the mortality rate year to year is about 0.1% of cases. The 15% deaths of 7.3% hospitalized COVID patients come to about 1%, or 10x as deadly as flu, which is in line with other known data

So bottom line, if that was hard to follow, is that you are MUCH MORE LIKELY to die of COVID than the flu.

PS: My numbers are all from the CDC especially MMWR. And yours?????

The gates are not OPEN but the rest of the border IS OPEN. How many folks are turned down for visas to our country? Lots is the right answer. Our borders being open are telling folks that it is better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Okay, were will ignore the fact-checking of false attributions that has been done over and over.

30,000 deaths from auto accidents every year (roughly) so, if we say ALL of them are attributed to COVID and not drunk driving or running off clifts etc. Then, please explain away the other 570,000 COVID deaths.

Most cruel is the inability to visit loved ones in the hospital.

Last week I stated that elective surgeries were stopping at Florida hospitals and was "poo /pood" and ridiculed because of it. This week it is just an accepted fact. That shows just how FAST the situation is changing because of DELTA. And Florida's CV statistics show that the human-designed agencies paid for by taxpayers were inept and "asleep at the switch" when it comes to fulfilling their prime directive - namely to keep Floridians SAFE from all enemies-domestic or foreign - whether Virus-sized or larger. So, keep throwing your taxpayer money away on an inept product!

Sad, but so true.

everyone should have the right to choose whether they get the vaccine or not but maybe they should be denied hospital treatment if they come down with a verified case of covid

My thought is the lack of true leadership from our wonderful governor of fl.
He has a big mouth that doesn't stop, just the wrong stuff comes out.
Case in point...look at these hospital numbers we are referencing and he doesn't care if the kids wear mask or not. I don't get him, I'm embarrassed for him. Then the pres says do it right or get out of the way and he replies with come get me....oh brother, for the love of god, and we wonder where the hostility comes from.....

Everyone should have the right to choose whether they overeat or not, but maybe they should be denied hospital treatment it they have health issues due to obesity…
I can continue to use other examples, but I would hope you get the point…

The rollout of the vaccines HAS been a disaster! Not because of the reason stated in the post, but due to the unpatriotic, unAmerican attitudes and actions of the anti-vaccine cult. This disaster was preventable. Vaccines were available to ALL adult Americans, but propaganda media sold almost 1/2 of America into NOT receiving the life-saving vaccines. Now late in the game, some are starting to pick life and vaccines over phony propaganda. And the DELTA variant says, "thanks for leaving the door wide open for me for so long".

Despite record COVID-19 hospitalizations, Florida'''s governor says '''admissions have slowed'''

A better way to look at it is .0005% are in the hospital. And most never got the shots.

I get what you are saying...but that is long term...this is different, it's a pandemic...they have the choice right now to choose the shot to prevent, they put their foot down and say no......ok...no soup for you......or else...you pay that hospital bill. Or.... since they feel it's just a flu type thing...stay home and nurse it yourself....either way...good luck

So let’s try out your new twist. Smoking is okay because it’s long term, but if you walk outside in a thunderstorm and get hit by lightning - it’s your fault since you could have prevented it, and it’s short term…
