Can a restaurant deny you service if you don't have a shirt on? Yes, they can. You can always get on a soap box and speak all you want, until someone throws a tomato at you ;-)

Well, interestingly I received an infraction for "foul language" because I used the word "cr@p" on a post on this thread that was removed. Very ironic on a thread entitled "freedom of speech" :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: But if that word was offensive to anyone (except the person who wrote the post it was referring to), I APOLOGIZE.

I don't understand your point. As most posts have stated, and legal scholars support, Freedom of speech has NOTHING to do with TOTV. They can ban you for life for saying purple if they want to.

Agree 100% with OP.
It may take we the people to fix it.
It will come to that.

Freedom of speech is alive and well, truth in speeches, not so much!!!!!!!

As far as news, information that people vote on. Who owns the news is a topic many should read about. According to my reading, yes, every article has the bias of the writer and or the source-that is the problem. In any case what I've read was that in the 1960s
there were four major owners of news. Today, it is five. Of the five four have a left wing bias.

Fair news? For most of us it is news that agrees with our bias.

News??? One is entertainment only! Some opinions, most flirt with the truth, but we all have options, believe it or not.

Oh, come on. You understand it 100% Of course freedom of speech doesn't apply here, but it is still ironic

Fix what? You want the current political administration (whichever is current - for 4 years) to have the ability to pass laws governing what your business can and can not do regarding speech?

Seriously?

That sounds almost exactly like socialism, where the government controls the companies.

So, the problem you are expressing here is that left-leaning media outnumber right-leaning media? And for that, you want to abandon the constitution and force companies to do what you want them to do?

Would you be as concerned if the majority of news outlets were right-leaning? I mean Tucker is the most-watched show in the US, should we censor his show because I disagree with his right-wing bias?

The Sediton Act of 1918 was enacted specifically to curtail free speech in the United States. Speaking out against US involvement in WWI was viewed by the government as "disloyal". More than 2,000 Americans were tried for the crime of sedition for speaking out against US involvement, and more than 1,000 convicted.

Similar laws were passed and used to stifle discussions against the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WWII, and the war in Vietnam.

Freedom of Speech in this country as long been an illusion.

Should make a list of all the atrocities committed by the US and show how horrible it is? Or maybe we accept that the US is not perfect, never has been. perfect, but is trying to be better. Compare Freedom of Speech in the US to almost any country in the world, and it is one of the few remaining categories where the US is in number 1 position.

Also, no RIGHT is unlimited, as Justice Alito said, all rights have limits. In the case of speech, you can not yell fire in a club or movie theater, and sedition is the equivalent of that on a much larger scale.

France goes so far as to have a Dept of Language (something like that) which regulates which WORDS are accepted in the the French Lanague...

Make whatever lists you want. My point is that we have been told that in America we have freedom of speech, and shown the printed words of the Constitution where we are guaranteed this freedom. This simply has, however, never been the case.

So true. We were treated the last few days to so much anti-American talk, it flat out scared me.

Then there is a segment who actually believe the stuff. I suppose it is just easier.

I have read enough history to know the road we are on and it has terrible ending written all over.

It has nothing to do with “free speech”, but a lot to due with believing lying speech.

History is supposed to teach us, but alas...

Calling that speak....”right wing bias” is a bit....soft...it is off the scale un-American, but he has the right to say what he wants.

Maybe out of order, but the talk about private corporations stifling free speech is scary.

Any website you sign up for has you agree with their terms, so...rules are rules.....and as someone else mentioned TOTV can suspend you for many things, yet if you read the untrue posts, the false claims, the violation of copyright to pass on totally unamerican thoughts, they certainly are not stifling free speech.

Big and immense difference between bias speak and downright LYING

And I am, once again, reminded why I don’t read posts on here. Thanks for the reminder. See ya!
