I think the point is made by the statement at the top. This graph is an "I told you so" to Sweden and those who hoped their approach would work.

The source that the OP mentions is a Financial Times analysis. I have no idea how they lean on the various approaches to combating Covid.

note that they had less deaths than Britain and Spain with NO lockdown and therefore MUCH less impact on the economy. No chart speaks for itself without some context.
